Front-Runner for Public Broadcast Agency Job Is Former GOP Chair

A former co-chairman of the Republican National Committee is the leading candidate to take over the agency that funds public broadcasting, sparking new concerns among broadcasters about conservative influence over National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting Service programming.

5. According to the WaPo article, CPB provides a fairly small percentage
(generally 1-15%) of a local affiliate's funding. Does CPB have control other than through its grants? Seems that a strong local station could just tell CPB to take a flying leap and air what they want.

4. So we have to buy NPR - no more govt funding
That's what we did in NYC - Giuliani started trying to dictate who would host local shows on WNYC (he put Curtis Sliwa on). So we had to buy the station back with fundraising so it was no longer property of the city.
