Should this be in LBN?
As I write this, it IS the "Most Popular Highlight" on Yahoo News, after all.

Romance writers elect to ignore Washington

As moonlight bathed the cherry blossoms strewn across the Tidal Basin, his arm crept around her shoulder and pulled her close. She sighed softly. This was probably not the time to bring up the amendment she desperately needed on his alternative minimum tax bill ...

Oh, never mind.

The capital of chick lit, Washington is not.

There are shelves of Washington satires, histories and mysteries. There are classic "Washington novels," such as Allen Drury's Advise and Consent. But hardly any contemporary romance or women's fiction is set here.

1. Maybe it's because...
...Washington and the political landscape there is not really woman-friendly and not very conducive to romance.
I'm sure you could set a romance novel there, maybe about a former male prostitute turned reporter involved in a bizarre love triangle with a gay couple from the South.
