***Bush approval dips to NEW LOW in latest poll***

WASHINGTON - As the war in Iraq drags on, President Bush's job approval and the public's confidence in the direction he's taking the nation are at their lowest levels since The Associated Press-Ipsos poll began in December 2003.

About one-third of adults, 35 percent, said they think the country is headed in the right direction, while 43 percent said they approve of the job being done by Bush. Just 41 percent say they support his handling of the war, also a low-water mark.

"There's a bad mood in the country, people are out of sorts," said presidential scholar and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution Charles Jones, who lives near Charlottesville, Va. "Iraq news is daily bad news. The election in Iraq helped some, and the formation of the government helped some, but dead bodies trump the more positive news."...

While Bush has gotten generally low scores for his handling of domestic issues for many months, most Americans have been supportive of his foreign policy. Not any more.

1. Quote
"...Not anymore."

Could they be finally waking up to the fact the entire Iraq war was cooked and there was election fraud?

5. We all need to focus on this one issue and bring our soldiers home...
where they belong, not stuck in Iraq, killing and being killed.

With any luck, we simply have to impeach Bush, as the first pResident to be impeached in the 21st century, for the lying and war crimes he and his pals have committed, all in the name of "freedom".

My .02 cnts.

3. 43% is ridiculously high
People are still in a stupor. It would take very little to bump those numbers back up... he has built a political career on low expectations. He has to hit the 30's for me to think people are waking up.

6. Can't blame them. The MSM has been "cooking" Bush's lies, as well.
Most people only believe what they see on TV or the newspaper, if that.

Sad, for an entire generation of people who should know better, and that had to endure the Vietnam "experience", to have to watch a replay of a similar war, minus the all the jungle overhead cover, of course.

7. For whatever reason, people want to like this guy.
3000 Americans died on 9/11 because he spent 40% of his time on vacation? OK

Lies to get us into a quagmire in Iraq? No problem.

Get the richest 2% a couble hundred billion in tax cuts while the Treasury goes close to $500BB in the red? Sure, why not.

Dismantle SS and let corporations vaporize their pension funds? I'd sure like to have a beer with guy.

Actually, I just don't believe the polls. I think Kerry kicked his ass in the November election and I think 25% or less really like this guy. But when the corporate media is the unindicted co-conspirator, why should we believe their polls? What if 75% of the people hate this administration? How would we really know?

children are dying in a farce of a war. The right is beginning to think Iraq is here to stay, they don't want their children to go. Makes you take notice of foreign policy.

Someone who can manipulate an election can certainly bolster a couple of minor little informational polls. His numbers have got to be worse than that.

Seriously. We need to build on this, people. I hate to say it, but our Dem "leaders" are so busy with their circular firing squad that they can't be bothered with strategy and dull things like that. So it's up to us.

23. at 35% we're nearing that core number of people
who are literally incapable of criticizing their political icon. There are people like this on both side...but I think the RW has a larger nonthinking number.

I think of it as the goat molestation #. The # of people who would openly rationalize, ignore, or defend ** even if he were caught on TV molesting a goat.

These are the people who cheer when they shovel others into the ovens.

The people who voted for him gave up domestic prosperity for the sake of winning that damn war, and they are getting cheated out of both. The chimp doesn't seem to get the concept that if you want to be thought of as a great president, you actually have to do at least SOMETHING right! :banghead:

36. If 35% approve, 65% EFFECTIVELY disapprove.
The fact 20-some % are unsure means they're definitely not happy.

Worse, if the country is headed in the wrong direction, the fact that 8% of the people still like him does not add credibility to the people of the United States. You CANNOT approve what a President does while saying the country is going in the wrong direction. That is ASININE.

And the worst is yet to come. Venezuela's recent actions, China (we will be supporting Taiwan... good job pretzeldent shrimpyballs* to add fuel to the fire burning in the only superpower on this planet - which is China. You know, where all of our manufacturing jobs went to and where 90% of computer software is pirated and I bet your corporate pimps don't mind that either, ironically.)

Corporate pimps. That makes politicians the whores. They'll do anything for the money. Whore in Chief, perhaps?
