WASHINGTON: White House officials Wednesday defended the revisions made by Philip A. Cooney, a Bush administration staffer, in the reports on climate change, describing the changes as part of the normal review before publishing reports with inputs from several agencies.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Cooney, a former oil industry lobbyist and now chief of staff to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is "someone who's very familiar with the issues relating to climate change and the environment".

"There are policy people and scientists who are involved in this process, in the interagency review process, and he's one of the policy people involved in that process," McClellan said.
---------------------

:wtf: does that mean? - "There are policy people and scientists who are involved in this process, in the interagency review process, and he's one of the policy people involved in that process," McClellan said. has McClellan been infected with bush-mush-mouth syndrome?

changes are part of normal review process -- yeah, this means they review the reports and change what they don't like

7. Policy trumps TRUTH....
in every aspect of this maladministration. Policy guided the intelligence for the Iraq invasion, policy guided the facts of the global warming report.
This bunch of idiots lets policy dictate their every move, contrary to whatever the "facts" may be. If they don't like the facts, if they don't fit their "policy", the facts are ignored, changed or lied about in order to conform to their chosen policy.
Remember bush's remarks about "transparency" in government? :wtf: He doesn't know what the hell the word means. This is the most opaque White House, ever.

12. "doctored"? Try criminal conspiracy to commit fraud against the people.
The altered climate change reports are only one example of numerous conspiracies to commit fraud.

14. why not? we have accountants making medical decisons for HMOs
this is the "corporate" mentality bush has brought to the white house. it is kith and kin to what i saw in the large corporations i worked in for two decades.

information is shaded to achieve a particular advantage regardless of the veracity of what is stated.

15. So they admit they lied.
The evidence said "x". They didn't like "x", so they had a political hack lie about those facts.
