Poll: Bush Job Approval Dips to New Low
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050610/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_ap_ipsos_poll

About one-third of adults, 35 percent, said they think the country is headed in the right direction, while 43 percent said they approve of the job being done by Bush. Just 41 percent say they support his handling of the war, also a low-water mark.

"There's a bad mood in the country, people are out of sorts," said presidential scholar and senior fellow at the Brookings Institution Charles Jones, who lives near Charlottesville, Va. "Iraq news is daily bad news. The election in Iraq helped some, and the formation of the government helped some, but dead bodies trump the more positive news."

California retiree Carol Harvie was quick to mention Iraq when asked about how Bush was doing his job.

"I don't think he's read his history enough about different countries and foreign affairs," said Harvie, a political independent who lives near San Diego, a region with several military bases. "Anything they try to do in Iraq has spelled trouble. I think he bit off more than he can chew."

3. Not a chance....
with the House, Senate and Judiciary in bush's pocket. They'd never turn on "god's chosen one", no matter what the transgression.

8. We have to go after getting those seats back.
If we don't, we're just dooming a future democratic presidential term to sure failure.

5. What I don't understand is how * & Rove can still hold Congress (i.e.,
the republican majority) hostage to passing their vile legislation and confirming their despicable federal judges with numbers this bad. If they were independently inclined, the reps and the Senators would not have to fear being voted out of office.

Ding, ding, ding! Never mind, I just figured it out: it's the money, Stupid. If they cross */Rove, it's like crossing Delay, and he controls the money going into campaigns and what-not. I answered my own question.

9. There's some fear of the religious rightwing involved as well.
The one thing that Rove figured out is that the religious rightwing will turn out voters on election day.

10. He has a solid core of the religious rightwing who sincerely believe
that he is a "man of God" in spite of a lot of evidence that indicates he is nothing like what a "man of God" should be.
