'Good and honest' Iraqis fighting US forces

By Phil Sands, Staff Reporter

Tikrit:
A senior US military chief has admitted "good, honest" Iraqis are fighting American forces.

Major General Joseph Taluto said he could understand why some ordinary people would take up arms against the US military because "they're offended by our presence".

In an interview with Gulf News, he said: "If a good, honest person feels having all these Humvees driving on the road, having us moving people out of the way, having us patrol the streets, having car bombs going off, you can understand how they could ."

2. Then maybe its time for us to leave.
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 06:05 AM by cornermouse
Instead, I suspect Major General Taluto will be leaving. He's too honest and Bush & Co. don't look kindly on anyone who doesn't serve as an echo chamber.

Is Taluto in Iraq? That could be one way to get out of there.

10. And I second your salute to the General:
:patriot:

It's not intellectually honest to call insurgents "terrorists," and call the French Resistance (during WW2) "Freedom Fighters."

Then again, intellectual honesty has never been a republican strong point...

11. Sometimes I think I am living in a weird unreal world
We invaded their country. Because of an act they did not do to look for
weapons that were not there and doctored intel so as to give us a reason
to invade. BTW for the first 4 months we pumped oil and did not meter
it. And now they are fighting us?

:applause: :patriot: :applause:

The "insurgents" are doing what we would do to get invaders out of our country, state, town, neighborhood, street and home.

An Iraqi waits outside his home as US soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division, Alpha company, enter to search it in the village of Alaiba, 70 kms southwest of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

You all remember this. What would Americans do in a similar situation?
