(Video) CSPAN: Rep. Sensenbrenner Gets Angry, Abruptly Ends Hearing
<<SNIP>>
http://dembloggers.com/story/2005/6/10/54149/5115

This morning Rep. Sensenbrenner, the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee was leading a committee hearing looking into the renewal of Patriot Act.

Mr. Sensenbrenner decided that he didn't like the tone of the meeting and simply got up and left but not before he criticized the witnesses who came and gave their testimony to the committee.

After he left the microphones were switched on and off while the Democratic members of the committee continued to discuss the renewal of the Patriot Act.

politicians to me. When did any democratic politician behave the way these thugs do:

Use federal agents to go after dems.

Lock dems out of meetings because they already have the votes and don't want/need any imput from dems.

30. Farley did play Sensenbrenner once on SNL
I think it was the skit were neither side could agree on anything-even what kind of pizza to order....oh they did agree the the VH1 Behind the Scenes on Leif Garrett was really really sad.

When Farley showed up on screen (glasses come-over) the audience busted out laughing even before Sensenbrenner's name popped up on the screen.

the start with Sensenbrenner trying to control what people could and couldn't bring up. He said people weren't there when they were and Nadler tried to make that clear.

This is great. Thanks Demblogger but we need to get the Hearing in its entirety also.

Maybe you don't need the entire Hearing but it just adds context.

34. The entire hearing was contentious - Sensenbenner tried to
stack the deck to keep AI, the other witnesses and the Dems from talking at all. He kept ruling they were out of order, wouldn't recognize the Dems when they wanted to speak, the whole hearing is a lesson on how the Nazis have taken over the government.

Hope you can post more of the video, it gives the build up to the tantrum that Sensenbrener threw before running out.

Full C-span coverage of House Judiciary Committee

It is titled "House Hearing on Reauthorization of Patriot Act" under Video/Audio Recent Programs.

http://www.cspan.org /

I haven't watched the whole thing yet so I'm not sure when they stop recording. Hopefully, not until everyone is done, not when Sensenbrenner walked out.

16. We now know how this administration and the republican majority...
...plans to stifle discussion of any of its issues. It simply CLOSES OFF ALL DISCUSSION!

I would like to have heard the panelists talks, or at least see a transcript of their presentations. Zogby, Pitts and other distinguished panel members have a right to have their testimony entered as part of the record.

The republican majority is now out of control and must be stopped before they completely take away all of our liberties.

Whoa! Isn't this what we were told wasn't going to be abused? Ya know...how library records weren't going to be peeped into except in "extraordinary" circumstances. Of course all terrorists would foresake their laptops (we always find those) and hide in libraries. Seesh.

How draconian can you get? He wants the names of all those who questioned this policy? Incredible!!! I sure hope someone picks up on this snippet.

And, of course there's his defense of his xenophobic immigration policies that all but want to create a vigilante army on the border to protect the big money ranchers and corporates. What a vile piece of shit. Sorry to have offended shits!

Especially the ones who wear bombs in their shoes. I mean imagine whatif they got on an airplane and we found out they had taken out a book on the manufacture of bic lighters and box cutters. Oh no!!! Even worse, if they took out a book about Arab culture or the Koran. Oh no!!!

I hesitate to joke about the scenario where someone claims to have a bomb made in the form of a tampoon. Imagine all the fun the corporate media would have with that one. Imagine being a TSA agent.

that our biggest weapon against buchco/corps is refusing to participate in their economy...

Possibly Sensenbrenner feels if that if a hearing isn't going the way he like he will simply refuse to participate... In the end he already knows how he will vote, so what's the difference?

The microphone thing is bullshit, but who are you going to complain to? The media? The FCC? Your Senator or Congressman?

46. Are you referring to Dem Politicians?
Because there are those among us/them (dem politicians) who collect their pay days from the source of the problem...

I keep asking, what will it take, how bad does it need to get before WE begin to act in OUR OWN self interest? As a people.

Our politicians will follow, they've show a knack for that. Others will show their hand early on (Biden, others, bankruptcy bill).

Dean (and I was not a Dean-i-ack in 04) is on to something. The people of this country have more collective power then any corporation. We simply need to "just say no" by not spending our money and refusing to compromise.

Controversy
In November 2004, Sensenbrenner and California Congressman Duncan Hunter blocked the bill that would have created a National Intelligence Director, a key recommendation of the 9/11 Commission.

On April 26, 2005 it was widely reported that Jim Sensenbrenner has had lobbyists pay for his transportation, a violation of congressional laws. His total travel expenses are higher than any other congressman.

That was history folks.. I heard from Wasserman-Shclutz that this was unprecidented to end a meeting without a motion to.. thats why the rep. was calling "point of order.. point of order"... and then .. "i said point of order".. as in, he cant do that.. just leave.. and so they push 1 more step... 1 more straw for the camel... we shall prevail!
