Potential Answer to Big Question: Where is the official Iraq death list?

I have been reading the posts on death toll discrepancies for some time, and the arguments back and forth, and it seems that this could be answered with an official Iraq death list.

If there is a publication of the <2000 dead and there really are >6000, couldn't the official list be checked to see if parents or friends of other dead come forward?

I personally don't put anything past the military on issues like this -- fudged death tolls in the interest of maintaining public support are as old as war itself. The main argument I can see against them doing it in this case is that, in this wired world, it would be easier than ever to find some parents of fallen soldiers who are not on the list.

But we can't solve it arguing with each other without facts. We need to work on finding an answer.
