Full C-span coverage of House Judiciary Committee
It is titled "House Hearing on Reauthorization of Patriot Act" under Video/Audio Recent Programs.

http://www.cspan.org/

I haven't watched the whole thing yet so I'm not sure when they stop recording. Hopefully, not until everyone is done, not when Sensenbrenner walked out.

Sorry if this is a dupe.

1. Disgusting display
I am appalled by this. I just don't know what to say, what to think, what to do.

Sensenbrenner did everything to impede this hearing. From the outset it was very apparent that the majority party would shut things down.

There should be repercussions for this. But how in Hades can that happen?

I think we've seen the next shots in the battle for one-party totalitarian rule. This is very scary.

2. This includes everything from the beginning where Conyer's says
that they did not agree to the limited Hearing Senssy tried to enforce, it shows how contentious the entire hearing really was and it shows the witness's testimony, along with the shut down at the end.

3. The real question in my mind is whether the networks cover it.
I know I emailed them. I'm assuming that others did too. If they don't, I think we can assume that totalitarianism is indeed here and no one is safe.

4. Why a five minute limit?
<sarcasm>
It seems to me that Sensenbrenner allowed too much talk in this hearing. All I heard was yap, yap, yap. I think that five minutes was much too long. I think that a more practical limit would have enforced the members and the witnesses to be concise and get to the point quickly instead of the going on and on and on for the entire five minutes every time.

Certainly 30 seconds would have been sufficient and should have been rigidly enforced.

5. I know. What a joke of a hearing. He wouldn't recognize Lee-Jackson
so she could say she was there, since he had said she wasn't, but the first witness mentioned it to get it in the record.

What a complete and total asshat!

edit to add - I read through it more and I'm not sure if it includes the ENTIRE Hearing or not.

8. Why do all the Republicans get to speak one after another instead
of going back and forth between Republicans and Democrats?

9. FYI for all DUs. Just finished watching the re-play of the hearing
on C-Span. The entire hearing is there for your viewing pleasure including the last 10 minutes where Sensenbenner had stalked out and left the Dems and the witnesses still discussing the Patriot Act.

After watching it again I believe we need to send Sensenbenner a thank you note. His bullying tactics have taken a small, quiet little hearing onto the national stage. It is the epitome of classic repug Nazism. It shows Sensny Baby ignoring members of the committee, actually lying by saying some of the member were in attendance when they were right there, ranting on and on without letting anyone else talk and then quickly gavels the hearing closed and rushes out. Hitler would have been so proud.

I'm just thankful that C-Span chose to make the entire fiasco available and not just the official hearing part.
