2. The better question is who will they endorse when they drop out? |
|
I'm willing to bet Graham and Edwards endorse Kerry. In fact, I'm not sure why the rest would not endorse Kerry.

3. If they remain focused |
|
on attacking Bush and his policies, I don't think it hurts to have 10 people, rather than just three, harping on those issues to different constituencies and the media in hopes of reaching a tipping point. It also divides the GOP focus in terms of who to attack and keeps them guessing.
I agree that at some point, they need to withdraw, but I think they still have a few months before it will hurt our chances to defeat Bush. The crucial point will be the manner in which they withdraw. My hope is they will agree to unite behind a single candidate and urge their supporters to do likewise. This election will be no time to try to heard cats. We need to present a united front to win, be it behind Kerry, Clark or Dean.

5. I have to believe that Edwards should be on the possible list |
|
He has the charisma and character, the message and the details, the fire and the brains, the plusses without the baggage.
He is largely ignored by the media and the target of at least one cheap shot but he has managed to scratch forward a little despite it all.
I could be living in dreamland on this but I refuse to cede him out this early. I see plenty of reason for support deflation on the two front runners and I believe that his accent will get past Kerry as well.
Anyhoo, thats my 2 cents worth.

A lot can happen to today's frontrunners in a few months: a scandal, a major brain fart, illness, etc. Also, I fully expect the Repukes and their faithfull media to soon launch a major offensive against one of the frontrunners (probably Dean) which might well destroy him if he doesn't handle it well (remember, they nearly destroyed Gore).
I think the ten candidates that are now running exhibit a wonderful balance of ideas and strengths. Who knows which one will catch fire in the future? I'm happy to have all ten for now and wish they would start spending more time debating the issues in their televised debates rather than spend ALL their time bashing Bush (which I truly enjoy). I'm still undecided who to support at this point.

7. Well is you look at the ticket as a symptom of divide and conquer politics |
|
then it is clear the more liberal candidates at this point begin peeling away and diluting the more liberal base of the Dem ticket in a curious fashion.
What they DO bring to the table however, besides the obvious BROADENING discussion is a vast source of financing for the election from all spectrums of the party..i.e. tha support Sharpton brings is quite different than the support Lieberman brings but they BOTH bring it.

I hope Al keeps on slapping the donkey all the way to the convention!
As for Holy Joe, I wish he would not only drop out of the race but also out of public life altogether.
