Sensenbrenner attacks Howard Dean (calls him "delusional")
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 03:44 PM by wicket
This is the guy who shut down the Patriot Act hearings this morning, pathetic! Who the hell is this guy to be lecturing those on respectful political debate after the stunt he pulled this morning??

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=48545

Dear Dr. Dean:

I was extremely disappointed to hear of your latest outrageous political assault this morning on The Today Show. You accused me by name of "attacking immigrants" and having "incredible anti- immigrant legislation," an apparent reference to the REAL ID legislation that enjoyed strong bipartisan support in the House and Senate as well as by the Bush Administration. By implication, the 42 House Democrats who voted for the REAL ID Act and Senate Democrats like Senator Byrd who proved invaluable in moving this antiterrorism legislation through the Senate are also guilty of "attacking immigrants."

The REAL ID legislation was in response to the 9/11 Commission's work and recommendations regarding securing our borders and improving identity document standards. Are 9/11 Commission members also guilty of attacking immigrants? Are the overwhelming majority of law-abiding Americans who want us to get some control of our porous borders also guilty of attacking immigrants?

In recent days, your delusional outbursts have forced senior members of your own party to distance themselves from your comments. While I agree with your acknowledgment that you're "not very dignified," I sincerely hope you refrain from further personal attacks. These attacks are contrary to the passionate - but respectful - political debate the public deserves.

Sincerely,

F. JAMES SENSENBRENNER, JR

Chairman

16. I believe your analysis is correct
The louder they squawk, the more direct the hit. I don't want to say anything bad about Terry McAuliffe (his strengths ran in a different direction), but when was the last time you heard so much about the chairman of the DNC in a non-election year? Getting the message out has a value and a worth all its own. Go Howard, Go!

Boy, won't Mr. Sensenbrenner be disappointed to learn that since the so-called "delusional outbursts", Gov. Dean has had a flood of support from average Americans which has resulted in over $20,000 (plus) worth of donations.

I find your outrageous accusations and insults about Democrats very disturbing. I have heard your inflammatory comments for years about the Democrats, and feel it's time to write. If the media had actually reported the things you have said and one in the same breathless fashion in which they have villified Howard Dean, then I'm certain more than 3 people would also be outraged.

26. Ahhh Sensenbrenner, seems like you should follow your own advice.....
Your latest law would force people to turn eachother's neighbors in, no matter what, if they were doing drugs. Also, your pseudo-fascist christian values are exactly what Dean was pointing to.

The truth hurts, doesn't it? Can you still come back to sanity sensenbrenner, and abandon this insane religious-right belief system?

Are you as beyond hope as Senator Bill Frist?

Because in the first place, NO CHRISTIAN IN THEIR RIGHT MIND, follows an extreme agenda that requires all to lock step in line....

And in the second place, to talk of public political discourse, YOU JUST SHUT DOWN A PUBLIC HEARING OF OPEN FREE SPEECH, and in effect of that, decided no more hearings should be held. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

You are afraid of Howard Dean? Get in line. The truth stings badly, and it will set us all free........

Keep it up Dean!!!

Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 08:25 PM by Eloriel
With two parts:

1. What havoc Dems wreak when they vote the wrong way on extremist legislation, legislation often designed to open up those wedges or trap us in other ways, perhaps:

Dear Dr.

Well, maybe they are indeed!

2. Not sticking together or sticking up for one another can carry a very steep long-term price.

That letter is so bad it's actually abusive. He dumped all over Dean, and had a lot of Democratic support in the form of stupid votes and stupid non-unity.

We've got a LOT of housecleaning to do, folks.

recall a representative, or maybe have a recall vote.

You know, I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside when I realize the main result of the 9-11 investigation was the Real ID Act. I wonder how this came about.

I have heard that the hijackers on 9-11 actually were here with valid visa's, the 15 Saudi's having obtained theirs from the American Embassy in Saudi Arabia using a 'expedited' process set-up by the state department. So why the need for Real ID?

Strange how a republican packed commission would come-up with the Real ID Act as a solution to a state department screw-up in dealing with foriegn nationals.

Edit: I think I figured it out. The republicans are not fearful of foriegn nationals, they are fearful of American citizens, thus they think there is a need for 'internal passports'.

37. Thats what I mean
I keep getting a disconnect when I try to figure out how forcing American citizens to obtain an 'internal passport' will have any effect whatsoever on a state department screw-up in allowing 'expedited' processing of visa's from a country with known enemies of the USA walking freely about. Real ID is not gonna stop anybody, it just makes it easier for government intrusion on Americans.

This guy Sensewhatever, who elected this dope?
