Gallup: Public Confidence in Newspapers, TV News Falls to All-Time Low
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 05:18 PM by Shoeempress
Looking at the newspaper numbers, of those surveyed, 24% say they have "very little" confidence in them, while 1% said "none." By far the highest number, 46%, said "some," with 28% expressing strong confidence.

Why are they surprised, they no longer report the news, even when begged.

2. Gee, what a surprise.
Note to media: We have the Internet. We're on to you. Act like journalists or drown.

3. Check out the REAL trend
The article sums up the results as "a broad level of distrust, cynicism or malaise", but seems to miss the bigger picture.

However, isn't it interesting that the drop is seen across the board in GOP controlled sections of reality.

8% drop for the presidency, 22% confidence in congress, drop for the Supreme Court of 5% and of course a sharp drop in media confidence.

Could it be that people are finally realize that all of these various institutions keep feeding them the same BS, which doesn't seem to jive with reality?

4. I can't imagine why . . .
Because teevee tells me all the time that they're fair and balanced, and giving me news that's to the point and stuff. You mean I probably am not all that interested in a girl who disappeared in Aruba, or that all that boring policy junk in Washington actually has an impact on my own personal life?

How disillusioning!

5. Gettin only one side of every issue.....
is boring, even for the Slugs. There is no more investigative journalism anymore, it's "too expensive". :eyes: They merely transcribe stories from other news sources and don't even check to their authenticity. Why would anyone want to read or watch something like that?
When they start investigating news stories again and reporting the truth, maybe I'll start paying attention again. Until then... :boring:

7. They're shrills for an abusive corporate governance.
Why the hell should anyone have any confidence in CM anymore?

8. I'm confident that if movie stars hook up, go into rehab, or (oh goody) go
on TRIAL ... the NEWS will be there!

I'm confident that if someone gets bitten by a shark, a dog gets a funny haircut, or a cancer victim credits her recovery to "the power of Jesus"... the NEWS will be there!

I'm confident that if pumping up some meaningless pop culture phenomenon will mean increased sales to select corporations, the NEWS will be there!

Yes, bless the NEWS media!

9. How stupid and gullible must one be to express "strong confidence"
in media controlled by GE and a handful of other greedy corporations?

These have to be the very same people keeping "magic magnetic pain bracelets" and "weight loss creams" in business.
