Republican "family values" in NJ
I saw this in the NJ forum, thought the larger community might be interested...

The lawmaker who made Emily weep

Emily Greatrex is an eighth- grader who has juvenile diabetes, a disease that could kill or cripple her long before her time.

Her parents took her to Trenton on Monday because she wanted to talk to legislators about embryonic stem-cell research. It's no sure thing, but scientists believe this research may yield a cure for diabetes someday.

snip
But Emily ran into Assemblyman Michael Patrick Carroll in the Statehouse hallway. A conservative Republican from Morris County, he is happiest when he is butting heads over ideologically charged issues.

Within a few minutes, Emily was running to her mother's arms, tears streaming down her face as a crowd gathered.

3. He might have asked her,
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 08:00 PM by Ilsa
"Do you want them to kill little babies to cure your disease?" or some other shit.

Oh, wait. On edit, after reading the other thread, maybe he just told her she's a dead duck or something equally scary and insensitive. What a bastard. I hope he gets what's coming to him.

4. What....a.....sack....of.....
....flaming....shit. I hope he has to endure some horrific, wasting disease. Even worse, I hope he gets the wasting disease and there's a stem cell cure offered in Europe, but because of his bold stance he is refused treatment.

6. Are you kidding?
Are you kidding me? If it happened to him, he'd be the first to jump at the chance for a cure.

Just like he'd jump at the chance to get an abortion if he could become pregnant.

Don't let the bold stances fool you - they only care about an issue when it doesn't directly affect themselves.

7. You can tell him yourself
http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/Members/carroll.asp

Why does that old saw about someone who knows everything about women but doesn't know any women come to mind?

Oh, and some of the Pukearrific bills he has sponsored

A1406 Prohibits Medicaid funding for abortifacients.
A1413 Prohibits public and certain private affirmative action programs based upon race, ethnicity, sex, color or national origin.
A1405 "Women's Right to Know Act." Establishes a defacto 24 hour waiting period for abortions.

Luckily, our legislature is heavily Democratic so this anti-woman, anti-minority @ss has no power.

5. Figures.
He's a Morris County ReTHUGlican. I wouldn't really expect his attitude to be any different. Too bad no brave soul slugged the asshole in the mouth.

The bitch-slap letter the Governor sent him was beautiful!

8. Karma
Wouldn't it be funny if he came down with Parkinsons or Alzheimers? It would serve the bastard right. I doubt he'd change his mind about stem cell research even then.

10. Oh, I disagree
They will have a "change of heart" and "see the light" if it happens to them. You know, just like Rush urging forgiveness for his drug use, when earlier he said drug abusers should be thrown in jail, for like, forever.

11. He thinks he's Patton
He already had a reputation as a whack job in the NJ Legislature. He wants to cement that reputation.
