Me wonders if Sensenbrenner's fascist outburst today...
had more to do with Conyers' upcoming DSM hearing rather than the Dems invoking a little used rule for minority hearings today and quesitoning the PA.

He's got to be none too happy that one of his committee members is spearheading what may become (hopefully) the next WG.

3. read here earlier
Sensenbrennerpig had 'said' that Dems were not allowed to use rooms for special hearings any longer/in the future.

so yeah, he's trying to keep any opposition discussion nil.

20. Here is what is what I wrote to him:
Dear Representative Sensenbrenner,

Republican or Democrat, you represent the citizens of the United States. Your behavior in committiee on Friday served only to shame the institution in which you serve. I only wish I were a voter in your district. I would never have voted for you, nor would I vote for you next election. The Constitution of the United States was never intended to give the majority party absolute power, and should never be construed in that way.

I urge you to allow your human conscience to give way to your party loyalty. I fear for my country.

8. Agree
Bush is falling in the polls.

Army and Marines missed recruiting goals again, as "mid career" officers and NCO's begin bailing (just like after VietNam).

Bush's Social Insecurity Piratization is dead -
beginning to look like a smokescreen for much more serious problems in Medicare, Medicaid -- and Federal Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp issues looming - United Airlines is only the beginning, airlines and steel are only the beginning.

Smoke screen for the ready to explode problem in employer funded (active employee and retiree) health insurance - as in junk bond GM

Bush is losing it with "Therapeutic Blastocyst Somatic Cell Nuclear Cell Transfer" (I do not use the phrase :Stem Cell Research")

Revolt of the "Leftie" Evangelicals.

Revolt on renewing Patriot Act.

People are beginning to get fidgety about massive deficits.

Such GOP Senators as Frist and Santorum are losing credibility with anybody not part of the "Rapture Right" base.

Bush is in trouble -- losing support everywhere but his "Rapture Right - Flat Earth - Creationist" Base -- and Sensenbrenner is one of boots on the ground.

13. Nice summation, coastie
Maybe what happened today was the first shot in the war against these pigs. I sincerely hope that people are finally getting pissed off enough to do something about these fascists. The poles do show that people are finally waking up. 'Bout time.

-the Downing Street Minutes are breathing down their necks.

Yep the GOP (Greedy Old Party) is beginning to appear desperate.

That's why I like what Dean did, he called them what they really are and there is only one option for us...

Kick them while they are in this mode.

Bullies only understand bullies.

9. OH, MAN!!! THIS IS FUCKIN' GREAT!!!
One of the witnesses then began giving impromptu testimony. James J. Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, said he thought the turn of events was "totally inappropriate -- no mike on, and no record being kept."

"But I think as we are lecturing foreign governments about the conduct of their behavior with regard to opposition," Zogby said, "I'm really troubled about what kind of message this is going to teach to other countries in the world about how they ought to conduct an open society that allows for an opposition with rights."

Go, Mr. Zogby!! You fuckin' ROCK!!

We gotta keep kicking these Republican motherfuckers while they are down!!

11. i saw the tail end of the judiciary committee meeting when he was denying
that anything discussed in that meeting had anythign with Patriot Act Two and then proceeded to close the meeting.

I saw the brief discussions that still lingered after he left by a few true real patriots, along with the comments of a few true real statesmen and women of the house of representatives like sheila jackson-lee, and the representative from mass. i believe he was...

and someone from the audience who was wondering what kind of example the united states is setting for people around the world as we go about preaching about an open society, all the while showing off just how closed-off and repressive we have become ...

i say kudos to the brave patriots and statesmen and women and a sack of coal to sensenbrenner snuffer of oxygen and of democracy!

It was such a case of sensenbrenner showing the republican mantra, "we have the power, you don't!" --it seems a few true patriots countered by declaring, after he left, "this will not stand. we will win this fight"! and all i can say is, THE REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN... and may God hear the true good men and women patriots of this nation who labor and struggle to return this country to a constitutional democracy!

16. I posted this earlier in another thread-I thought Nadler and Zogby rocked:
Here is part of the WaPo article in Saturday's online edition:

*****
As Sensenbrenner left, Nadler continued talking and was applauded after saying that "part of the problem is that we have not had the opportunity to have hearings on all these other administration policies that have led to abuses."

"The other thing that I wanted to say -- and that I will say at this point, even though the chairman is not going to listen," Nadler said.

Then his voice faded out. "I notice that my mike was turned off," Nadler said, speaking up, "but I can be heard anyway."

One of the witnesses then began giving impromptu testimony. James J. Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, said he thought the turn of events was "totally inappropriate -- no mike on, and no record being kept."

"But I think as we are lecturing foreign governments about the conduct of their behavior with regard to opposition," Zogby said, "I'm really troubled about what kind of message this is going to teach to other countries in the world about how they ought to conduct an open society that allows for an opposition with rights.

I did some digging and found a way to e-mail him.
You can reach him by message here:
http://www.congress.org/congressorg/bio/?id=411

Click on the second blue box under his picture that reads
"Send Message". It's free as long as you choose the "Compose your own letter" option.

I'm e-mailing him now:

"I want to thank you for the dignified and responsible way in which you handled the disgusting public show put on by the Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee on Friday.
Chairman Sensenbrenner's actions were a disgrace and an insult to the witnesses, to the other members of Congress and to the citizens of this country who pay their salaries.
I think it's time they remembered just who it is they work for."

Feel free to use it if you like, shoddy as it is.

21. Thanks for the comments...
I agree the RW is scared shitless at the moment...the DSM and subsequent spreading on the internets is something Rove didn't count on. I'm sure Bushco is counting on Sensennazi to put as many roadblocks up against Conyers' efforts as possible. Today may have just been a warning shot across the bow.

Make no doubt about it, the DSM is only the beginning of a long chain of corruption.
