How we can be heard on Roker/TV Morning Shows
Here's my idea. I'm sure that at one time or another that most of us have seen one of the corporate tv morning shows (Today, GMA, CBS Morning Show, and (aarg) Fox & Friends). Besides being mostly barf induced celebrity fluff and missing pretty white women stories of the week, there is also another COMMON DENOMINATOR that we could take advantage of. That is the "man on the street" live intereviews that they do. Usually this is with their weather people (but sometimes the main anchors, also).

What I'm suggesting that we do is a large scale campaign on all progressive radio, blogs, moveon, etc. We get the word out encouraging that people go to these morning shows and go to them as often as possible. You may know people that go to them anyway whenever they are in New York. However, when we get the little quickie interview of the typical "where are you from/why are you here/is it on your honeymoon?, etc." questions, we have some VERY different answers for them.
Our answers are examples like these: "I'm Jane Doe from Philadelphia and I'm here to ask you guys why you are not covering the Downing Street Minutes and why our government lied to us about Iraq". "I'm John Doe from Oshkosh and I'm here wondering why your network hasn't covered James Sensenbrenner's appalling anti-American behavior in the House committee looking at the Patriot Act." "I'm Mary Smith from Chicago and I'm here wondering why your show spends so much time covering individual missing white women stories and ignoring all the missing people in war and poverty both here in America and across the globe". You get the drift. They won't know what to say when they are not greeted with the usual smiley answers. And, they won't be able to edit it. These are live interviews. The beauty would be that we will be MESSING with their format and getting OUR issues out there. They won't ever know who we are because we won't have protest signs (because if we did, they would never interview us or have their cameras near us). No. We would just always POSSIBLY be one of those that they pick each morning. Waiting. Waiting to hold them accountable. Waiting to tell them THE TRUTH about what they HAVE BECOME and what WE THINK about it.
What do you think?
