Zogby Impresses Me
Not for his polls, which I trust, but when he speaks he is always worth listening to.

In my mind he might in fact make a presentable candidate for high office, very high office. He is rational and well spoken. He remains calm and demands respect in doing so. I think he would be acceptable to a lot of Republicans and his thinking seems to be in line with the views I generally see expressed by Democrats. His name is well known as well.

1. I've met him
I used to work for a pollster and I was visiting friends in Utica, NY. I was at an Italian cafe on Bleecker St. - Caffe Caruso - and they mentioned to me that his place was just down the street. I asked them if he ate sfogliatteli and they said he did. So, I had them wrap one up and I took it over to him.

I was a total stranger, he came out and, on behalf of my boss I presented him with the pastry wishing him good luck in the upcoming elections. We ended up having a nice chat.

He's since kind of 'gone uptown' and moved his office to New Hartford, Utica's snooty suburb.

2. Actually, there are two of them,
brothers James (Arab-American Institute) and John (pollster). You saw James testifying at the hearing the Sensenbrenner shut down.

James, 56, is the most recognized political voice of the Arab American community, a key player in trying to reshape American policy in the Middle East. And John, 53, has made the Zogby name an internationally recognized trademark, the result of his success as a political and corporate pollster.

4. Thank You
I didn't realize that but it was making me think I had gone a little more forgetful than usual.

As I watched the C-Span replay last night I kept wanting to call him John and the TV kept saying James. I thought it was just anouther brain fart on my part.

Still, I am impressed.
