Where are the articles on how Sensenbrenner lost it and went delusional?
Is the corporate media bemoaning his fit of pique?

Are his fellow Republicans rushing to distance themselves from his untoward behavior?

I'm waiting...

On their front pages. Look for other papers to run things on the morrow.

7. The Washington Post story was run in the Anchorage
Daily News at the top of the first inside page. The tone was relatively mild, but at least it's out there.

Our biggest ally is their own brain-dead ARROGANCE. With a paper-thin "edge" in an election that stinks to high heaven, they think and act like an 800 lb. gorilla!

Never despair; instead watch them like hawks!

12. Politicians, media, and people need to get real
Edited on Sat Jun-11-05 01:19 PM by firefox
If I had a bumper sticker it would say "Get real."

Hit the nail on the head. Get your priorities straight. Tell it like it is. Cut the bullshit. The country has gone to hell and you are talking crap.

How about we are a fascist country. We have a raid on the treasury with unbelievable decificits nobody talks about stopping. We have patriots defending their country in Iraq from an illegal invasion and our media calls them insurgents. Bu$h is no conservative you dumbshit. There is such a thing as peak oil and nobody wants to get real. The oil companies benefit by driving up prices and delaying alternative methods for energy. The media talks trivia and if you ask people the big picture, they are way off. Talk about depleted uranium. Bring the scientist in to tell us about global warming, pollution, and the political force to manipulate scientist. How about a weekly show on the CIA and their killing, drug-dealing, and manipulating other counties for the benefit of our wealthy? How about at least mentioning a foreign country in the nightly news?

Get real you fascist bastard. End the goddamned drug war and impeach that puppet in the White House and replace the Congress that hasn't done its job.

...in what I've sampled, so far, no Repukes have chastised him for his improper behavior. I hope one of the Sunday news show hosts will question a Repuke about it, but I won't be holding my breath.

14. they want an apology from Sensenbenner--

.....James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, speaking immediately after Sensenbrenner left, voiced dismay over the proceedings. ''I'm troubled about what kind of lesson this gives'' to the rest of the world, he told the Democrats reabuse of power and she would ask House Speaker Dennis Hastert to order an apology from Sensenbrenner.

GOP Chairman Walks Out of Raucous Hearing
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 10:18 a.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Republican chairman walked off with the gavel, leaving Democrats shouting into turned-off microphones at a raucous hearing Friday on the Patriot Act.

The House Judiciary Committee hearing, with the two sides accusing each other of being irresponsible and undemocratic, came as President Bush was urging Congress to renew those sections of the post-Sept. 11 counterterrorism law set to expire in September.

Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., chairman of the panel, abruptly gaveled the meeting to an end and walked out, followed by other Republicans. Sensenbrenner declared that much of the testimony, which veered into debate over the detainees at Guantanamo Bay, was irrelevant.

20. so this is why there were only witnesses invited by the Dems. Previous
hearings had only witnesses who supported the Patriot Act. And he was the chairperson. Looks like this is why he was so upset--sounds like he was forced to call these addtional witnesses.

.......The hearing's announced topic was the USA Patriot Act, which granted broad new powers to federal law enforcement after 9/11. The Republicans had presented several witnesses at earlier hearings who supported the administration's call for reauthorizing the legislation. But Friday, when four witnesses chosen by the Democrats launched into a broad denunciations of President Bush's war on terrorism and the condition of detainees at the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Chairman James Sensenbrenner Jr., R-Wis., showed his pique.

He urged witnesses to "wrap it up" and repeatedly told committee members that their time for questioning had expired.

"We ought to stick to the subject," Sensenbrenner said at the end. "The Patriot Act has nothing to do with Guantanamo Bay. The Patriot Act has nothing to do with enemy combatants. The Patriot Act has nothing to do with indefinite detentions."

"Will the gentleman yield?" Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, asked.

"No, I will not yield," replied Sensenbrenner, 61, the heir to a paper fortune who is known for a brusque insistence on decorum. He completed his reproof of the witnesses and left the hearing room in the Rayburn House Office Building amid protests from Democrats seeking to be recognized.

22. The American news diet is overwhelmingly comprised of...
...broadcast network soundbites and locally available headlines. So, until the truth is told regularly on ABC, CBS, NBC, or the front page of USA Today, the neocons will continue to win the information war with their lies and propaganda.

17. The ones I read haven't gotten it right and claim
that both sides were accusing each other, like that whole exchange was equal. Also, they quoted some Repuke spokesman stating that he let everyone finish their sentences. Did the writer not look at the video? He clearly cut the witnesses off in mid-sentence.

...fair coverage. Plenty of the former. Little to none of the latter.
