Poll question: Now that shrub's numbers are tanking, |
|
and British memos are leaking like the post-iceberg Titanic, what do you think Rove will do to combat it?

Nothing.
They don't have to do anything because Americans are numb and inert and are incapable of outrage.

But where are the huge demonstrations that took place during Vietnam?
There was unrest on college campuses that was inspirational and constant. We talked about nothing else, and did things that, even now, I am proud to tell people about. There were kids of draft age who knew more about what the government was doing, and the illegality and immorality of it all, than the adults did.
If there were a draft, I daresay there'd be more of the same. It's all in whose ox is being gored, or some such saying that I never really understood or got right.

|
lazy, too scared, too apathetic, too scab-like in character that they won't take action like in the Vietnam days. Have they been threatened with expulsion for civil protest? What is the damn deal?

but they're comfortable, apathetic, uninformed, and have lived in a world - created by our kind, alas - that taught them that their needs come first and foremost. They have been taught nothing about their place in the world, or even that there is a world out there, except as it exists to satisfy their whims and wants.
A draft. That's what will move them.
When their own sanctity is threatened - and, if there's a draft, I firmly believe there should be no exemptions, none - then they'll move. Until then, they're content to let the game be played by others, not at all understanding that the game has been taken away from them, and they'll ultimately pay a terrible price.

4. Take A Look At How They Have Acted In The Past |
|
Every time anyone in Bush's Administration got nailed to the cross (I love that phrase) they simply dropped out of sight for a couple of months. Every one of them has done it at one time or another. It began with Ashcroft, Rummy has disapeared from time to time, so has Condi. Even Cheney vanishes pretty often and of course the chimp heads to Texas like he had a job there.
My guess is he will simply drop out of sight for a while. Cowardice fits him well.

medical problem -- gall bladder surgery or something where little children can write letters to him and send him flowers.
May need to be "recouping" for about two months.

5. Why does Rove need to do anything? |
|
The Dems aren't an opposition party. They give Bush every single thing that he wants. They don't even put up a fight.
Bush's numbers could be in the low 30's and the cowardly dems would still give the far right everything it wants.
