2. I wish I knew!
I am so appalled, I scarcely recognize my own country. We weren't paying close enough attention and the corportists took it away from us.

3. The pendulum of politics will swing back, it always does.
The public quite naturally clings to familiar conservative longing for a simpler time in times of great uncertainty.
In times of great confidence and hope the public begins to dream of what might be possible and swings to a more liberal stance.
Both parties, when in power, will inevitably go too far and the public will always pull them back. Same as it ever was.

18. I agree, plus the country is taking a sickening shift to the right
I think this country is done for.

8. I am not sure that it will this time.
We have allowed too many of our civil liberties to be taken away.
The right wing has solidified their grip on power, we have no
honest elections and the media is owned by the corporations that
bought the presidency.

Denial is the thing that allows individuals or general bodies of
citizens to keep doing the thing that is doing them in. We have
much of the population in denial about what has happened to our
country and rest seem too dumb to care.

5. Regretably I am too
Underneath it all I still love this country, but now when the national anthem plays in a public setting I find a way to quietly excuse myself. I just can't salute the flag right now. I look forward to the day when I can proudly do so again.

20. I love it when these sentiments are expressed. Also, when folks
just assume that if one is sick of living in a "red-state" that one can just pick up and move. I may be in better financial shape than a lot of other people who would love to leave, but I don't feel that I can afford to move to another state much less move out of the country. Jeeezzz.

One couple that I know is planning to move to New Zealand. They have about $2,000.oo in expenses in completing the paperwork, doctor visits, etc., and they are damned close to getting the final invitation to emigrate. They will have to sell damned near everything that they own as it will be too expensive for them to ship it. They actually determined that it would be cheaper for them to arrive with nothing except their saved money and start over buying furniture, etc.

14. The pendulum is slowly swinging back to the middle.
Do not give up hope! We have to keep trying and we must never give up!

Never give up! :patriot:

22. I love this country
I have nothing to be ashamed about and this country has done many great things in its young history. In fact we have done many good things that other empires in history would never even think of doing. If you feel so bad then you should move away. If not, then instead of feeling ashamed work to change the things you feel ashamed of. Your defeatist attitude will get no sympathy from me

When we were the "big brother." Now we're th neighborhood bully.

With our recent actions there is nothing to be proud about.
