Shouldn't any discussion about FOX News or for that matter.....
...be either transferred over to the DU Lounge or given a separate topic board titled "Propaganda"? I know it would make it much simpler for me to block all of those discussions rather than having to open them first and then hiding them.

6. I could make that choice for myself and it would be much easier
...to just go to the topic board dealing with that. But really, why should I respond to a post which says nothing about the content of what is being said, in this case about DSM, other than it is being discussed on FAUX. I believe FOX News along with all of the other major news media have in fact "mentioned" or "discussed" DSM all along. But their references to the memo have ALWAYS been slanted to either mentionings in passing, or trivializing or distorting what the DSM really has been about.

If todays FOX News discussion is significantly different from that, then why not say so in the opening post? For DUers to go to FOX News for an unbiased, objective news report is like going to a gun shop to buy fresh baked bread!

7. What makes you think that?
"For DUers to go to FOX News for an unbiased, objective news report is like going to a gun shop to buy fresh baked bread!"

Who in their right mind on DU goes to FOX for an unbiased news source?

Its about knowing how the other side is characterizing current events, so it can be responded to.

9. How is the other side is characterizing current events......
....by exactly how they are being told and directed to characterize them, that's how! Why does anyone need to listen to that crap, when you've heard one, you have heard them all. The only thing which changes from the neo-con fascist media is the intensity and frequency of their distortions, lies and propaganda.

10. Those are my sentiments, too. Hear the new batch of lies? No thanks.
I already heard the old batch and I know they're going to keep lying.

12. ...and again I repeat, when DUers post something here giving...
...reference to a discussion relating to a topic that DUers are interested in, like DSM and news people or programs relating to them, without any explanation of what is being said, or who is the guest, or whatever, we DUers become the sheep if we scurry over to say FOX News and sit there for several minutes and get bombarded by the same neo-conservative point of view.

It's like unprotected sex and in this case we all know that FAUX News requires the use of double condom protection!

14. How so? Please explain what you mean by better....
...better coverage, un-biased, more objective? Jesus, all I have ever seen on FOX News is the neo-conservative party line, with the talking news-heads spewing out the same kind of distorted interpretations and judgments as you would see on Pat Robertson's 700 Club. Ever watch BBC News or listen to BBC on the radio. Now that is a model for what one might call "better news reporting". I've never seen or heard anything from FOX, ever, that even comes close.

17. I have seen Chris Wallace far harder on neocon guests than ...
Russert the Holy, Stepinfection, or Shitster. Brett Hume always fellates them but Wallace does not.

18. Chris Wallace bio....
<snip>

Before joining FOX News, Wallace worked at ABC News for 15 years where he served as the senior correspondent for "Primetime Thursday" and as a substitute host for "Nightline." During his tenure with ABC News, Wallace hosted multiple groundbreaking investigations and received numerous awards for his work, including the Dupont-Columbia Award-winning probe of the Associates, Ford Motor Company’s finance department that allegedly practiced predatory lending.

Prior to joining ABC News, Wallace was with NBC News where he served as the chief White House correspondent from 1982-1989. While at NBC, Wallace covered the 1980, 1984 and 1988 presidential campaigns as well as the Democratic and Republican conventions in those years. Wallace also anchored "Meet The Press" from 1987-1988 and anchored the Sunday edition of "NBC Nightly News" from 1982-1984 and 1986-1987. Wallace joined NBC as a reporter with WNBC-TV in New York City in 1975.

Wallace has won every major broadcast news award for his reporting, including three Emmy Awards, the Dupont-Columbia Silver Baton and the Peabody Award.

Wallace is a newby to Fox, joined in 2004 I believe! I like Chris Wallace. Hopefully he won't become tainted by the darkside too quickly.

13. Although I agree with your characterization,....
,...because I no longer believe we have a media but rather propaganda-infotainment, I do appreciate those who still track what's being projected on the people ESPECIALLY now that I have turned that shit off (it was ruining my "beautiful mind").

19. So do I...That's why I thing DU should give them their own topic
...section, to post all of the observations and comments and insights they can share with the rest of us. Then we will have one place to go and review those, instead of having them all willy-nilly all over the board. We do this with sports, why not neo-conservative propaganda?

A post under "General Discussion" that says only....."FOX News now discussing DSM, go look now" is most likely a blatant attempt to distract and deflect General Discussion topics on DU.
