Why is sMel Martinez proposing to close GitMo?
I'm pretty sure he has no soul & is a whore for bush, so why would he do this? Is he jealous of their fine chicken dinners and three types of delicious fruit?

1. I'm not sure what is up with him. I also saw an article in this
weekend's paper in which he criticized the Bush administration for the Iraq war diverting attention from Latin American concerns. I figured he'd sold his soul to the Bush camp.

3. Heat From Little Havana
Dirty secret in the Repugnican tent is how unhappy many Miami Cubans are with this regime. They expected a big payback from this regime and they've been ignored. Bunnypants didn't carry the Cuban vote in 2004 like he did in 2000...and Jebbie's not too popular either. Martinez knows whose his bread and butter.

Also, Gitmo is turning into an international fiasco that is making Castro look good, not bad. Not a good thing for the Cuba Si, Castro No crowd. They see this gulag on their soil as an insult to their own national identity as well. Why couldn't this facility be put in Texas?

Plus Mel's not playing with all 52. Isn't he the one who let the DeLay/Frist memo out that showed Schaivo was going to be used for partisan purposes? And where's the media outrage? Thought so...

6. This is exactly what I was talking about when I said that it
might not take a democratic majority in congress to impeach Bush. I think we are seeing evidence of Republicans slowly shifting their chairs away because they know something bad is coming down and they don't want to be associated with it.

7. Just impeaching bush will not ease the grip of the Neo Cons.
The whole administration needs to be removed.

5. Because if they close Camp X-Ray...
...they can scatter these prisoners around the map where it will be easier to hide the abuses. Without everyone in one spot, it will be easier to deflect attention.
