Poll question: This is rich, should DUers who disagree with Dean leave the party? |
|
Straight forward yes or no question. It came about from a previous thread. If you ask me its sort of like conservatives telling liberals to leave the country. But I guess criticizing the chairman can earn you "a leave the party now" card. LOL See here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3840027#3840758So should DUers or Dems who disagreed with and/or criticized Dean for his comments leave the party?

then there's dozens of posts hypocritically bashing Democrats who take issue with Dean's comments.
then there's dozens of posts repeating the same 'Dean speaks for me'.
I can't hide these waste-of-time threads fast enough.

after all, many people have considered leaving the party because of people like:
Harold Ford Joe Biden Dianne Feinstein Joe Leiberman etc.
I spent several hours Friday night with a former Feinstein staffer who fielded her calls. There are a lot of pissed off Dems out there. They are sick of the status quo in the party.
And again...it was ONE person who said it to you...did that really require a poll?

Disagree and criticize all you like. That is your right.
But recognize that when you do, you fall into the rethugs fly trap and you promote their spin. It's up to you to decide whether exercising your right to publically criticize the only dem with a back bone serves their (rethugs) or our (dem) purpose.
I personally like a dem leader with backbone. Tact and diplomacy have been used for far too long, understanding and politeness have back fired on us and not only has the party been harmed, but OUR NATION is in danger. Speaking the truth, even if it is spoken awkwardly, is a relief and is very necessary. It's about damned time our dem leaders stood up to the trash and spoke the truth.

there are a lot of Dem leaders I don't agree with, but it's not them that make the Democratic party. It's working for the little people and making sure that they have a voice. Why leave a party just because your voice is different ...ridiculous. We can all come to the table with our ideas and chew the fat.:)

reframed his message or at least used the opportunity to say something HELPFUL about to the Democratic party's cause, then great.

I happen to think they are all foolish at this point. They have turned the focus away from Bush and back on to a stupid senselss fight within the party. You have Bush's approval rating at an all time low, the DSM slowly pushing it's way into the main stream press, the American Pulbic finally coming to it's senses about the economy and Iraq and the toilet bowl this country is in and yet here are the so-called fearless leaders of the Democratic Party ranting about Dean AGAIN. Another opportunity missed and all because they are trying to cover their own asses.

...That Dean as head of the DNC is the one to rally the troops with controversal issues. The job of the the Bidens, et al is to sit back safely shielded whilst Howard takes the heat...... They could have not commented or skimmed over the comment, but by giving a press release on his comments THEY blew it up out of proportion and took away air time from things that are sort of IMPORTANT.
To continue on with arguments on this issue just furthers takes us from other issues that are a hell of a lot more important than Howard's comments about a bunch of fat old white boys.

Some of the ones you mentioned, not all, are not good Dems because they consistently vote lockstep with the Repugs on issues that are bad for the country and bad for the party. Those are some of the same ones that just happened to criticize Dean. Some simply undermine the party efforts and some just need to grow a set of balls. I don't believe that any Dem should call out another Dem publicly--there are phones, faxes, emails, offices, and planes available to have a private conversation. "Some" that you named will say anything to be in the media--regardless of whose throat it cuts to get their name out there. Call them down for what they are...parasites.

you've started no less than 3 Dean bashing threads.
Then you don't like the comments from those who are tired of it, and you post a poll based on one poster's comment(s).
Like the character in Jackie Brown said, "Man, what the fuck has happened to you? You used to be so cool".

. . .but I lose it when I see how Biden, Ford, Obama, Richardson, et al are getting trashed because they were merely responding to questions as a result of Dean's comments. They did not run to criticize him, they were all responding to questions his comments raised and they either spoke from their heart or at least in a manner that would not get them in trouble amongst their constituents.
