Thoughts on those who disagree with Dean's remarks
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 01:42 PM by noahmijo
First off NO you should not leave the party. That is if you are in the circle of those who disagree with Dean's remarks because you're that kind of person who is so filled with kindness that people like myself feel sorry for you because I bet you get walked over all the time by those who take advantage of your ability to be so unselfish and so caring to the point where Jesus Christ has you fill in for him once in awhile.

If you are of the "Corporate Wing" of the Democratic Party the type that thinks "most Republicans in office who back Bush 100% are good guys who can be reasoned" fuck off get out we don't need you.

I say this outwardly because I seriously doubt anybody here on DU falls into this category.

Now the main point. We need this aggressiveness to beat the animals we're up against. I am tired of them stereotyping us as being weak on defense when the majority of military veterans are on our side. I am tired of them stereotyping us as being economically stupid when it's the blue states that have the strongest economies while the red states leech off of them.

I could go on and on but you get the idea.

It must be understood that this brand of so called conservatism these Republicans now running things have no use for you. You should be burnt at the stake you should sit down and shut the fuck up about things you know nothing about like "hard work" (despite that YOU'RE the one doing the hard work as a middle class worker bee)

You're not a Christian. Well not a true Christian by today's Republican sense for the very reason that you're a member of this board which overall represents the party of Satan.

Acting as a Christian should act logically you may think that two wrongs don't make a right ect and I agree with that, however telling the truth has never been called a sin, and calling these people out as the murderers and thieves that they are is NOT a sin.

And quite frankly Dean's remarks did something to the Republicans that they weren't ready for; he yanked the mask right off their ugly faces. The face of "compassion" that they tried to keep up for so long in their victorious attempt to portray themselves as humble hardworking people who cared for the little man down in Mississippi who just got thrown off his land because he couldn't afford the mortgage anymore, or the mother of three in Alabama who has to get food stamps.

The point is it's on now, the party MUST take an offensive stance using truth as the main weapon in order to restore our nation's principals and take back what rightfully belongs to all of us.

As of right now Howard Dean speaks for me.

3. You Can Be Aggressive AND On Point, Succinct & Effective. Dean's Recent
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 01:42 PM by cryingshame
comments were neither.

You can support a professional athlete or team and STILL acknowledge faults in their game.

In fact, pointing out weaknesses is how players GET BETTER.

Or do you really think Dean is perfect?

Dean made me WANT to watch the DNC Executive Committee meeting yesterday on CSPAN. I wanted to hear what he had to say, good or bad (a matter of perception). You can bet the media along with a lot of other people tuned in also.

Terry McAuliffe NEVER commanded that sort of attention. Best part - those listening also got to hear the DNC agenda.

5. He speaks for me, too, but I've got a problem
with our Democratic leaders in Washington. I want them to shut up if they're unhappy with Dean's comments. Keep it to yourselves, for Pete's sake. If you're unhappy with Gov. Dean, call the guy on the phone and give him hell. The Republicans learned long ago to keep their lips sealed - no matter what - and give the impression of unity. Democrats haven't learned that. We're blabbers. That gives the impression of disunity and we can't have it.

Question: Does Dean think he could have said it more effectively?
Because it seems to me the mediawhores who are part of the uproar are doing it purposely to distract from the DSM, Bush's bad poll numbers, and the problems in the GOP.

Maybe Dean could make his points in a more effective way, but, I actually believe that the media would take ANYTHING he said and blow it out of proportion because they NEED to cover for BushInc any way possible.

and to Kerry. Taking one phrase and making a mountain out of a molehill about it. They will criticize anyone whom they are afraid of and the media helps them do it.

6. They're beating up on him because he has so much support.
The more they beat up on him, the more afraid they are.

NOW, the idea is every time he's insulted, we go to www.dnc.org and donate an amount with one cent attached to it, so the DNC knows where it came from!

25. Chill, Bpilgrim...
My beef with the first paragraph has nothing to do with Dean. I wasn't on DU much during all this fighting. I just didn't like the insincerity of the first paragraph after having a title that seemed to be inviting open discussion. I was looking forward to catching up on what people were discussing on this matter.

15. Could Dean have chosen better words? Perhaps.
Would it matter? Probably not. Unless he were to stick to milquetoast page B17 fodder, anything challenging he says is going to be criticized by whoever feels threatened by the comment.

Like I always say, it's not the initial comment that really matters, it's how one reacts to the reaction. In other words, anyone can make a mistake, but true leaders turn them into advantages.

So far, Dean passes the test in my book.

17. Dean is MAKING news. Unlike the pantywaist wing.
Everybody likes to blame the MSM for ignoring the Democrats. Well, surprise, surprise, they aren't ignoring Dean.

I'd rather have Dean snarl than Edwards whimper or Biden, the nonstop mouth, blather endlessly and say nothing and toss marshmallows at the repugs.

I'm not a Deaniac and don't like some of his stances (too conservative) but, at least he's getting attention. Which certainly can't be said by the "leaders" and their mealy-mouth pandering and pollwatching.

18. Dean Just Told Them The Truth and They Thought It Was Hell
Dean Just Told Them The Truth and They Thought It Was Hell
by Thom Hartmann

This morning I called the Democratic National Committee to tell them that I support Howard Dean's modern-day version of Harry Truman's dictum that, "I never did give anybody hell. I just told the truth and they thought it was hell."

Timid and fearful Democrats are trembling on national television as they beg Dr. Dean to stop pointing out the hypocricy and misinformation efforts of Republicans in office and Conservatives in the media.

"He doesn't speak for me," they say, apparently longing for the days when their spokesman was taking big checks from multinational corporations, signing corporate-friendly trade deals, and defending sex scandals.

The simple truth is that corporate interests have hijacked our nation, theocrats want to take us back to the days of the Salem Witch Trials (with gays playing the part of witches), and the "stars" in the corporate "mainstream" media have been so terrified by Bush administration threats of loss of access (which could then lead to the loss of their own 6- and 7-figure income jobs) that they perpetuate administration lies and tremble at the thought of actually asking a tough follow-up question when Bush prevaricates.

Howard Dean points out these uncomfortable truths... continued @ http://www.opednews.com/hartmann_061105_dean.htm

27. They all agree with Deans' remarks.....
Democrats, Republicans, and the media.

If they disagreed with this remarks they would indicate the parts that were not factual, and inject the facts about them.

No one has done that, they have only attacked Dean or paint with a faux label of one sort or another.

28. again with the blue states red states thing
and it is crap too. Is NY a red state (Pataki, Bloomberg) or a blue one (Kerry, Clinton, Schumer). Does NYC leech off of red upstate NY or the other way around? "Red" states like Texas, Ok, Wy, Ak, and Ks are providing agricultural commodities and primary resources like oil and minerals for the rest of the US economy. In a sense, they are economically exploited and kept in poverty like the rest of the 3rd world. (And as I have posted before - what is 5,144,795 besides more than the population of Kansas and Nebraska combined?
It is the number of people in California who voted for Bush.
What is 2,828,723 besides about the population of Vermont, Rhode Island and New Hampshire combined?
It is the number of people in Texas who voted for Kerry.)

Also, it is common in the way we talk, but my PETA-sense is saying that calling our opponents animals is not fair to animals who have never been able to match the viciousness and slaughter of homo sapiens.

I am with your last sentiment - attack with the truth, but it is important to frame properly, choose your words and your targets carefully. You bash red states like Texas and Kansas, and you seem to be forgetting that some of your friends live there as well as other people we are trying to win to our side.

30. I happen to live in a red state (Arizona)
instead of saying "red state people" I should've said "people who vote red" however although there exists a large number of red and blue voters in red and blue states respectively still the majority is what constitutes the overall culture of the state

31. The tax-angst red voters here in Indiana are the ones with their hand out
wanting something for nothing. I know two republicans personally collecting social security that say they have something wrong with them. While one does have bad eyesight, the other says he has a bad back who cuts and splits firewood for extra cash.
