Desperate attempts to stifle people and their candidates are STUPID
We have a fine field of candidates. I believe very shortly, that field will begin narrowing and each candidate as they withdraw will throw their support behind the candidate that mostly closely matches their ideas for policy.

For people to act in desperation, only demonstrates how little faith they have in their own political sense.

Each of the candidates has created participation in the process where none existed prior to their candidacy.

Each of them appeals to a block of voters that may have felt shut out of the process prior to this point.

Each has gotten considerable AIR TIME..something that WOULD NOT have occurred had there been fewer candidates.

The motives of people who will tear us apart should be viewed with suspicion. Especially in our own ranks.

When someone calls for you to declare war on ANY candidate's supporters....MOTIVE should be the first thing that is suspect.

1. Emphasis on DESPERATE
sorry for the shouting. I'm trying so hard to set an example of tolerance for desperate campaign supporters.

2. Right on
And I think it's important not to judge the candidates by the behaviour of a few of their supporters.

At first, when I read the headline for the thread, I thought you meant that the candidates were stupid. Ooooops ... that's what you get when you mix sore feet with controlled substances. :D

5. Sports metaphors always get me hot and bothered...

Seriously, I'm trying to do the same thing but sometimes a particularly egregious insult will piss me off. I don't have any problem with people questioning my candidate on any real, substantive issue but repeating these crazy lies over and over after they've been debunked gets ridiculous.

A few supporters of all the candidates are guilty, mine included. And crap like urging cliques to band together to defeat a particular candidate is both anti-Democratic and childish.

And, it doesn't work: ABM (Anybody but McGovern) ABC (Anybody but Carter) and ABC (Anybody but Clinton) all were attempted and failed completely. Being against someone isn't enough. You must have a positive message.

edited for grammer.

Its very important to stick together, anyone that does participate in Dem bashing are giving the repubs what they want. Divide and conquer is one of their favorite tactics. Keep the Dems infighting, it saves them the effort and money.

8. has anyone really declared "WAR" on a candidate?
If you mean War when someone speaks the truth then you are wrong. That is not war that is enlightening people to the truth. I know sometimes people feel strongly against a candidate and that may seem like "War" but if they come to the floor with links and intelligent discussion against a candidate....that is not "war". I have seen few people actually declaring "War" against a candidate but some have been strongly against and for valid reasons. If we can't discuss these valid reasons here......Where can we? If we can't discuss them here it's like going home to your republican relatives and being unable to have an intelligent discussion which can be so anihilating..We the people and what we want is important. The candidates are elected and therefore in our "employ" We should remember that.NOne of them is perfect. None of them is beyond reproach. Let's find the one who most represents us....By discussing and exposing the truth we can be more effective and informed.
