Is this just TOO deceitful an idea?
I've been stewing about this for a while .......

An "I Regret My Vote" bumper sticker campaign.

Bumper stickers like:

"Ask my Why I Regret Voting For Bush"

"I Voted for Bush and I Regret It"

"Impeach The Person I Voted For. Impeach Bush"

"Attention America: I Apologize for For Voting for Bush"

and many variations on that theme ...... with this twist ...... **we** out them on **our** cars.

Is this totally nuts? Too deceitful? A fun trick to play on friends on neighbors in the red states?

What do you think?

1. I don't think I could lie like that.
Or risk some W supporter messing with my car.

2. It would help give Bush voters a psychological out...
if they see other people feeling that they were taken for a ride, they might be more willing to admit they fucked up too.

Nevertheless, I could never pretend I voted for him!

4. My Xed-out "W" would give me away I think
I'm in a red state and I still have my John Kerry/ Edwards sticker on my window.
I don't think I could even begin to falsify my vote.
It's bad enough we have those stupid computer voting machines.

6. no need . . . . .I think they'll come around to it on their own...
It looks to me as if theere's some buyer's remorse out there in elephant-land..

And if we know it's really them, think how good we'll feel!

7. I think it's smart.
It's very smart actually. I am a former Republican and I know many of them, and the biggest barrier we face in flipping them is getting them to understand that they were had. Most of them know it on some level, they just feel bad about it. If a few of us put the bumper sticker on, perhaps people would feel like, "Hey, that guy was had too." If they felt they weren't alone, perhaps they would flip more quickly.

11. as a former 'pub, what brought YOU around?
I think it would be honest if you really WERE a Republican and realized that your party left YOU. By all means, put a sticker on with a clear conscience!

13. Health care.
My Dad has worked for the same Co. for over 30 years. He started out as a mechanic at 15 and now owns 7 tractor dealerships of his own. My Dad has worked hard his whole life to give us kids a good life. He and my Mom have had the same insurance their whole lives. My Mom was diagnosed with Scalaraderma, a nasty disease. They keep threatening to drop her insurance, and I can't tell you how many times they have raised the premiums. It really pisses me off that if they do end up dropping my Moms insurance than my Dad would be wiped out in about 2 years from all the medical bills. He's worked really hard for what he has, and it will just simply disappear because of my mothers illness. He's paid lots of money in premiums and now that they actually need the insurance, the insurance company is trying avoid paying their part, and trying to figure out away to dump my Mom. I mean if a hard working guy like my Dad can't make it, who can? My dad has worked his ass off, and he has to worry about his insurance? He has to worry about losing everything, just because my Mom is sick. It's just wrong, you know?
The other thing that really pissed me off was when the Republicans kept saying gays are a threat to marriage. My uncle Bud is a vet, and he is really ill, too. He and his wife of 30 years had to divorce, so she wouldn't lose the house to medical bills when he dies. Can you imagine being married to your high school sweetheart and having to divorce, so your wife won't end up homeless? How fucked up is that?
That's what woke me up. It's waking my whole family up, too.

15. Same reason I started putting bumper stickers on my car.
I don't do it to piss off reich-wingers. That's just a fringe benefit. ;-) I do it to tell others who feel the way I do "you're not alone."

I live in Texas, by the way.

12. I think you would be "figured out" very quickly.

You may as well take partisanship out completely and produce a sticker that says: "Have We Been Betrayed?" or "Are 'THE PEOPLE' Still in Charge" or "Why the Hell Are We in Iraq?" or something along those lines.

On edit: another good one could be: "What the Hell Happened to My Party?" without indicating what party *LOL*

14. I think it's good for bush voters who feel that way now.
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 05:22 PM by Bouncy Ball
If you think about it, most don't have any kind of way of saying that.

BUT some are kind of new to feeling this way and might not feel ready to declare it.

I couldn't do it. I've never voted for a republican in my life, not even for city dog catcher.

The back of my car says "Bush lies, people die, how many lies can YOU take?" and "Hatred is NOT a family value!"
