I started a topic on another board I belong to...
The board is mostly liberals, only about 20% conservative.

Long story short, I asked

"Given what we now know about the failures/wrongdoing of the Bush administration I'm inclined to believe that Bush voters can be easily categorized.

They are all:
A. Stupid
B. Complicit
C. Too stubborn to admit they were wrong

Would one of our local conservatives tell me of any other categories?
Surely more must exist!
I eagerly await your replies."

I didn't get a single answer outside of the other liberals laughing.

I could've sworn there'd be a fourth category.
Go figure. :)

3. I'll say 'C'
My RW mother would never admit to being wrong about anything she did as a parent. She thinks it makes her weak in our eyes. It's the whole 'parents are never wrong' kind of mentality that was perpetrated in our family through the generations.

That's how I view this administration. Bush sees the American people as his children and he is the parent. He will never admit he's wrong about anything and neither will most rw nutjobs.

12. I've got another one for you.
How about "really pissed off and sorry I ever voted for that idiot and his criminal friends". I actually know some folks in this category - I'm beginning to think there might be hope for this country after all. Slim, I'll grant you, but there nonetheless.

14. #4 Cognitive dissonance
Wikipedia

cognitive dissonance

Cognitive dissonance is a condition first proposed by the psychologist Leon Festinger in 1956, relating to his hypothesis of cognitive consistency.

Cognitive dissonance is a state of opposition between cognitions. For the purpose of cognitive consistency theory, cognitions are defined as being an attitude, emotion, belief or value, or even a mixture of these cognitions. In brief, the theory of cognitive dissonance holds that contradicting cognitions serve as a driving force that compel the human mind to acquire or invent new thoughts or beliefs, or to modify existing beliefs, so as to minimize the amount of dissonance (conflict) between cognitions.
