Reminder to CMT and other Dean folks |
|
Frontrunner means you're leading in a variety of ways... Number 1 in a national poll doesn't do it, otherwise Lieberman would have been the frontrunner up to this point.
Remember, Clark doesn't lead in any single state, has a small amount of money and no real organization.
So we'll see how things shake out... As well, Clark also keeps giving other campaigns (and the republicans) great openings for attack...
So keep your head up. Don't despair. Don't succumb to the paradigm the Bush cabal has created, this climate of fear, wherein we must have a big, strong, soldier come save us from the dreaded enemy that be. Don't think we must vote for a man because he can better capitalize on this climate of fear.
Stay strong. Keep FIGHTING!!! And go DONATE!!
I'll leave you with some memorable quotes from the supposed frontrunner:
"President Bush and Tony Blair should be proud of their resolve in the face of so much doubt." - Gen. Wesley Clark
”I would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls.” - Gen. Wesley Clark
”We're going to war unless Saddam Hussein changes. We're not going to give Saddam a victory on this.” – Gen. Wesley Clark
"I want to clarify — we're moving quickly here," Ms. Jacoby said. "You said you would have voted for the resolution as leverage for a U.N.-based solution." "Right," General Clark responded. "Exactly."

”I would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls.” - Gen. Wesley Clark
Clark Never Called Karl Wesley Clark says he would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned his phone calls. White House phone logs suggest otherwise. by Matthew Continetti 09/22/2003 1:45:00 PM
Matthew Continetti, editorial assistant
"WHEN WILL Wesley Clark stop telling tall tales? In the current issue of Newsweek, Howard Fineman reports Clark told Colorado Gov. Bill Owens and University of Denver president Mark Holtzman that "I would have been a Republican if Karl Rove had returned my phone calls."
Unfortunately for Clark, the White House has logged every incoming phone call since the beginning of the Bush administration in January 2001. At the request of THE DAILY STANDARD, White House staffers went through the logs to check whether Clark had ever called White House political adviser Karl Rove. The general hadn't. What's more, Rove says he doesn't remember ever talking to Clark, either. "

10. Yes again, ad nauseum |
|
Get used to it. Keep articles bookmarked or make a list of quotes you can just copy and paste in. It'll be the exact same slams, over and over and over and over and over and over....
Good luck!!

"Don't think we must vote for a man because he can better capitalize on this climate of fear."
From General Clark's Iowa Speech, Sept. 19
"Now is not the time for anger. Now is not the time for fear."

4. What about the October Dean News? |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 05:08 PM by gully
Will that change the scope of things in your opinion for the Dean camp?
Frankly Clark doesn't concern me as a Dean supporter yet. He's the media darling (for now) but after seeing him speak, I dont personally think that'll last.

>>>>"Will that change the scope of things in your opinion for the Dean camp?"<<<<
yes it definitely will... how much, i'm not sure... but the one other DUer who i've told this to (on the phone) shared my excitement and glee.
>>>>Frankly Clark doesn't concern me as a Dean supporter yet. He's the media darling (for now) but after seeing him speak, I dont personally think that'll last. <<<<
clark, the candidate, doesn't worry me either ESPECIALLY after hearing him speak... but what DOES concern me, is all the folks (like so many even here at DU) who fall for the paradigm the bush cabal has created... what else concerns me, is clark's history. it's not pretty for those who do the research.
time will tell...

from the intense media attention, but it will subside and it is going to be a very competitive race and Dean still has an excellent chance to be our nominee.

18. Ask NewsGuy - he had a thread a week or so ago |
|
My guess is that Dean will break some fundraising records. My pragmatic side says he'll beat 25 million, my hopeful side says he'll break 40 million.

for the last time, it's not about any fundraising records... something totally different... :-)
mandy, i don't think he'll do 25... i'm guessing 15-20m range, probably closer to 15m, which will still be awesome... and double that of the next highest (most likely kerry with around 7 or 8)

read what I wrote again, Democratic voters haven't made any firm decisions. I think Dean can do it, look at his poll numbers they are stable. He is going to raise a hell of alot of money this quarter too. But, I actually think it is a good thing for Dean to not be the front runner right now and have the media scrutiny on Clark and then postion himself to "come from behind".

9. As mentioned on CNN this morning, about Clark and the polls - |
|
(I forget who but it was after 10 AM) A fellow made the point that although Clark may be polling well, Dean has delegates.
I am not worried in the least by Clark. I am counting how many days it takes him to get something up on his website under issues.
I like General Clark, but I am not sure I believe he is a Democrat. If he was running as an independent, he'd probably be my second choice, after Dean. But I see Clark as a useful VP candidate for Dean period. Worse case scenario, a sell out by the DLC to stop Dean.

The best dem will rise to the top. If it turns out to be clark so be it. I want bush out more than anything right now. I personally think Dean is the guy to do it. I dont really care how it gets done in the end hough as long as it gets done.
Still very much in Deans camp here and growing stronger in that support by the day. The man just gets it. The others dont even worry me a little bit.

Why would we be worried? The best dem will rise to the top.
why do you believe that the best dem will somehow automagically rise to the top? does the best candidate always emerge as the nominee? does the best nominee always win in the general? of course not. money, media favoritism, dirty tricks, and cross-party meddling can change the outcome of a nomination process just as easily as they can change the outcome of a general election.
look at the CA gubernatorial election 2002 for example. did the repubs pick their "best" candidate?
