Roll Call Tim Curry - on C-Span, ,"...Democrats are grandstanding" |
|
Curry reported that Pelosi has called for Sensenbrenner to apologize to the Democrats for his behavior Friday on shutting down the Patriot Act hearing. Said the hearing was scheduled for two hours, two hours only and that he would not be apologizing for anything. According to Curry some nameless, faceless repug talking head gave the statement, the Dems are guilty of grandstanding. End of story, move along.
Wish the C-Span host (forget his name) had felt the necessity to mention that C-Span had re-run that hearing this weekend at least six times since Friday morning. That the tape had been viewed by thousands of people streaming on the Internet, that newspapers and blogs are all reporting on Sensenbrenner. Repug said Dems are grandstanding. End of story, move along.
Just like that they have dismissed the death of democracy in the House of Representatives. End of story, move along.

1. The chair can not just adjourn the meeting |
|
pick up his gavel and go home. Adjournment has to be voted on by the members. Sensenbrenner blatantly violated House rules and he should be held accountable for his outrageous behavior. It was totally uncalled for.

hearing went for two hours (actually less, the Dems stayed for about 10 more minutes) and the Dems are just whining. C-Span and Curry did not address the breaking of House rules, the rudeness or the "handcuffing" of the witnesses so they could not testify.
I wish the House Dems would grow a pair and throw a gridlock into every damn thing the repugs try to work on until they get an apology and a promise to honor the House rules. Period. This English farce of pretend legislating needs to end. Because that is all it is, a farce.

3. Apparently when he ended the hearing and cut all taping |
|
the Cspan folks were on air stating that they could NEVER remember this happening before - not just ending the hearing but the whole cutting off all recording of it (ordered the steno to stop, cut mikes, cut a/v feed).

6. Sensenbrenner go? Hell, the repugs will canonized him |
|
for his bullying tactics. This is consider an art form for these a$$wipes.
This session of Congress for the House has been one long dirty trick after another. They change the rules (House Ethics) for DeLay, faux legislation (attempt to play God - Shiavo), scheduling and then ending a hearing. They are just nasty and if we let them frame the debate of "two hours and two hours only" we need to have our asses kicked.
Every phone call to C-Span needs to be sure and say that the repugs broke House rules, did not left half the witnesses testify, would not let the witnesses who were testifying answer questions, etc.
