If 20th Century Fox is owned by Fox News which is owned by Murdock |
|
Does that mean if we see movies made by "fox", we are supporting fox news network, and their political agenda?

1. Doubt it. Star Wars sure doesn't go near that. |
|

3. regarding Star Wars... |
|
If we're talking about the new ones, including Episode III, Fox didn't produce those. Lucasfilm produced them, paid for them out of their own pocket. Fox only distributed them, and was limited in profits by Lucasfilm.

they're separate divisions, and money shouldn't be going back and forth.
however, profits from 20th c. fox and fox tv enable murdoch to run a loss at fox news without the usual pain.
caveat: i haven't seen the financials for fox news, but rumor is that it doesn't make a profit. which is amazing, because their shows are so cheap to produce, especially when you save so much on fact-checking!

7. Not really. It's all part of Fox Entertainment Group. |
|
The news division, the cable and satellite comapanies, the movies. FNC is only a small part of the whole mega company.
Fox also owns many local TV stations, which DO make money, believe me.

8. Except 20th Cent. Fox loses money on most of its movies - all studios do |
|
Profit margins are lousy in the movie business for the studio.

6. practically you are right |

we wouldn't buy shoes, computers, and even gasoline because the companies who produce them exploit the workers who make and drill these items. Oil profits go to keep up the oppressive governments, etc.

9. As an interesting side note: |
|
Fox is considered a "blue" company. Not because of it's official policies, but because the people who work for the company (especially the movie people) donate more to Dem's than Repukes.
There are many many Fox employees who do not agree with the Fox RW agenda. Unfortunately, they are usually not in a position to disagree without the very real possiblity of losing their jobs.
