I saw Revenge of the Sith last night... Cheney is like Darth Sidious
There are both mentoring their evil apprentices... Cheney mentors George W. while Sidious mentors Darth Vader.

Both Sidious and Cheney minds are so twisted minds, evil is actually good to them...

Both seek to control an empire...

Did anybody else see any similarities?

1. They both attacked their own government in order to control it?
Come on, someone had to say it.

3. Yep.
Actually both used war as a pretext to consolidate power.

2. W isn't Darth material...
... he's more like Jar-Jar, who gets a Senate Seat by accident.

To be sure, Cheney is defnitely Palpatine/Sidious ... I just haven't figured out who he's got in training at the moment.

:hi:

4. I think W is stupid...
...but I also think he's an evil, calculating SOB.

Perhaps he is more like a Darth Gump.

9. Look at it this way:
Imagine if, instead of finding someone with raw talent and unlimited power and potential, Palpatime just found some cocaine-addicted alcoholic and rather than train him just spent time buying journalists and boosting his PR.

W would be the apprentice, but it would be an alternate Star Wars universe where Anakin was unavailable so Palpatine just went for Joe, the Jedi dropout.

14. Perhaps Darth Sidious/Cheney got his apprentice from Planet of the Apes?
It would explain *'s resembling a chimp...

10. I've pondered whether...
Jar-Jar might be more symbolic of the American people, as he allowed a ruthless dictator to rise to power through his own stupidity, gullibility, and manipulability (is that a word?).

13. Think that's why everybody seems to hate Jar Jar?
They can't stand their own reflections.

5. If I become his apprentice, then, do I get to execute Darth
oops. Better not go there. Wouldn't be prudent.

8. Jar Jar Bush is no Vader
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 12:44 PM by 0rganism
He's a bungler who's ridden to victory on shoulders of others far more competent and devious than he. Which is not to say he doesn't have a certain cunning about him, an instinct that guides him to surround himself with people who will unquestioningly support his ascension and gladly use him as a figurehead to further their own goals. But to credit him with the active personal drive of Anakin/Vader is, I think, a bit too much.

12. So who would the Jedi Knights be?
I like to think that Liberals represent the Jedi Knights in the Star Wars series.

Jedi Knights believe in being selfless and in helping others even at the expense of harming themselves... as do many Liberals
