|
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 05:42 PM by Cush
Then:
1) 2 more National Guards Divisions could be called up
2) 3rd Armor/Infantry could go back, just after coming home
3) send in the Marines
They need someone to yes by Oct 1, if they hope to have them on the ground by March.
the WH hopes S Korea, Pakistan and Turkey will send in troops

2. Not a pleasant prospect to contemplate |

And international support is going to hinge on . . . how well Chimpy can make his presentation to the UN. If I were Richard Lewis, I'd be walking around saying, "We're doooooooomed."

If more American troops are sent, it might just as well be an admission of defeat.

for turkey, mayby a chance to mend fences with the kurds (doubt it), mayby influence in iraq. For S korea, the fear that 37,000 yanks and a few thousand pongos from the Brits would leave, no idea really, personally theres not many soldiers from other countries i would want to be watching my back, outwith the Yanks, Brits, aussies, kiwis, Spanish and Israelis most militaries are nothing more than soldiers in name only. Before the flames start, this is from experience with SPFOR, IFOR and having worn the Blue Beret a few times.

unless we turn over control to the un. s korea has big problems caused by bush.turkey and pakistan? well since their armies are basically muslims it would be a hard sell to get them to send troops to fight fellow muslims in a muslim country invaded by the christians with the blessing of judism....

Yes the turks are muslims, but they are also pragmatists and remember the turks have fought other muslims before. Also the Jewish thing is not an issue in Turkey, as seen by the joint Military connections between Israel and Turkey, much to the annoyance of the arab nations. Plus you have to remember the Turkish general staff has a lot of influence and they follow ataturks beliefs to the letter, plus the discipline of the turkish forces is legendary.
