Poll question: What catch phrase will historians use for Dubya's maladministration?
Of course serious historians don't like to use zippy catch phrases to summarize a person or an era in the past. All nuance and complexity get lost that way.

But let's just suppose that future historians do prefer catch phrases. What will be the favored one to refer to the maladministration of George W. Bush?

7. The Interregnum.
The time between legitimate leaders in American history. Or else, the last president. Depends on how far we fall in the next year or two.

Keep in mind that historians write what their era wants them to write. Bush's historical reputation will fluctuate with the mood of the nation and the world. Even Hitler at some time in the future will become just another interesting dictator, and will lose the monster image he know has. As Napolean has done, or Ghenghis Khan or a lot of others.

and cutting the budget to real education in favor of an emphasis on God and Jesus etc as the Fundies take over, it'll be known as the Glorious Years of Our Lord and Savior George W. Bush, Defender of Truth and Liberty, Disseminator of Democracy, Destroyer of all other World Religions. That's how they see it if they have a chance to write it.

I need to listen to Mike Malloy tonight, for sure.

17. the lead up to the age of american caesars
A similar period in roman history, where the fat senate lost it
along with a bunch of treasury raiders finally ended in the suspension
of their authority and the age of caesars. Truthfully, history will
simply recall this as the period before the constitution was suspended
for a similar age of american dictators. Can you name the last roman
leader before the great dictators? The same will be true of bush.
