DUers rejoicing in the MJ decision are making us look bad and uniting FR
As the mother of 2, I fully believe that MJ is disgusting and GUILTY.

I am ashamed to be here at the moment, beling glad that the news whores are mad, is the stupidest thing we could be feeling.

It makes us look like we think that child molestation is OK.

Than again I am fully in support of child molesters being castrated, harsh I don't care.

Touch my children, and I wish death upon you.

91. Look.....
If a Santa Maria jury found him not guilty then by law he was not proved guilty, period. He may be guilty but when we start putting people away without legal proof we are in deep dodo. Santa Maria is a very conservative ex farm town turned white aspiring to be upper middle class town. Lot's of farm workers still but not on this jury. Tom Sneddon the DA is an out and out bastard. I had a good friend who's mother lived next door to Sneddon years ago when he first was elected DA. His wife and kids would come over when Sneddon would drink himself into a rage and do physical violence on both wife and kids. The police would smooth it over many many times. This should end his career, at least I hope so. Jackson may have been guilty who knows. But Sneddon went after him for personal reasons, not legal reasons. He cost our County a huge amount of money it doesn't have. And one more comment. The parents in this case suck as bad as Sneddon, Jackson, and the shitty press. They all suck, a pox on their houses. Bob

It's a damn 16th century witch hunt.

36. Absolutely.
You've got trial by public opinion, based solely on the defendant's eccentric behaviour.

The only thing that stopped it from being a real witch hunt was nine good jurors.

41. Witch Hunt.
The Santa Barbara county District Attorney is a big man in a small county who was ridiculed by Michael Jackson on an international blockbuster album. Michael Jackson wrote an entire song about the DA and how he's "a bad man." And you don't think it's possible some power hungry DA didn't see his chance to get his revenge before he left office? He's even said he wasn't intending to run again for DA, undoubtedly because he was expecting to make millions doing books, talks shows, seminars, etc...

74. Let's See....
I suppose anything is possible.

Risking his reputation and his future over a little known song that got no air play? That would be pretty damn silly.

He can still write a book, go on TV talk shows.

and Michael Jackson can continue his odd habit of sleeping with poor and seriously sick boys, whose parents are too stupid and star struck to say no.

people need to remember we have a justice system (easy to forget under this administration and their treatment of prisoners and The Patriot Act). The jury has spoken. I sat on a seven count child molestation jury. It's very difficult. Of course you have sympathy for the victim. But the defendant has to be proven to have committed a crime.

But that doesn't mean Michael Jackson isn't a kiddie diddling pervert.

It is simply WRONG for a man in his late 40's to have pre-teen children sleeping in his bed.

That's not racism, it's not freeperism, it's not lack of compassion or anything else of the kind. It is merely stating that reality.

So the prosecution failed to prove their case? That happenned with OJ too. Don't mean he isn't a murderous son of a bitch.

And let's not forget those cops who beat the living shit out of Rodney King, recorded live on camera. Yeah, they were "innocent" too.

Basically it comes down to "justice" for the highest bidder. :grr:

I'm glad that a man was not convicted without proof. I'm not glad that they didn't have a better case. I don't think DUers are rejoicing. I have kids too.

BTW, do you feel no anger toward the greedy parents who put their kids in MJ's clutches knowing full well that he was a pedophile?

those parents should be sued by their children when they get older. I'm one of those who was convinced that he was guilty, though I know we are all entitled to our own opinions. And on that note, I'm going to read a book and turn off the computer and television for a couple of hours. I can't take any more of this.

Your sense about his innocence or guilt have nothing to do with it. The standard of proof required for a conviction is very clear and with acquittal on all counts, the prosecution obviously came nowhere close to that standard.

looked and and decided with all the evidence that was presented, that Jackson was innocent of 20 different charges....they were there, we were not....i will stand by their decision.......

i hate child predators as much as anyone, but this was too unanimous...aquited of all 20 counts....that says volumes...it means there was not enough evidence to convict...like it or not, the man has been declared innocent....love it or hate, it is what we will all live with.

hit alert, they'll be banned.

I appreciate the fact that you think he's guilty. I suggest not patronising any establishment that provides him with resources, and otherwise boycotting him, cause frankly, neither your opinion, nor mine matters for shit in this case, the only thing that matters is the 12 people on the jury. Kinda how the system works. We don't need a lynch mob mindset. the fact is that the prosecution had him dead in their sights and blew it. There was no race card played, as for OJ, no defense tricks, they simply played the case better than the prosecution. Blame Santa Maria county for having a crappy prosecutor, if you'd like. By the way, calling him guilty is very likely slander, he's 'not-guilty' legally.

BUT

He's not a pedophile.

No one is supporting child molesters. I believe in due process. I believe in innocent until proven guilty. That's how the system works.

The jury worked with what they were given by the prosecution and I've got to say that they weren't given all that much. Reasonable doubt was there.

all the evidence that the jury heard and passing judgment.

Sorry, but as soon as it was shown that witnesses were lying and perjuring themselves, I knew he'd walk.

You approached the case with a presumption of guilt rather than a presumption of innocence and thus approached it from a completely non-Constitutional view.

This is merely the result of the American justice system as it was intended to function, with a presumption of innocence and a requirement that guilt be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. Obviously the jurors felt there was reasonable doubt.

I'm sorry if you don't like the Constitutional concept of presumed innocence.

80. Dear Melodybe,
While I respect your opinion, I must strongly disagree with it. Remember how successful the R's were repeating 'flip-flopper' all the time? And it worked. The R's just put bogus garbage out there, repeat it a million times and it becomes true for so many people.
This jury was there. We must hope they did their duty diligently.

This reminds me of a little story.

In the 60's, the late, great Nat King Cole moved into a home in the fashionable district of LA, Hancock Park.
A neighbor marched over there, blood boiling and said to him "Hey, we don't want any undesirables in this neighborhood!"
Nat said "Madam, if I see any, you'll be the first to know."

Big fucking whoop friend, I couldn't give a rat's ass what those brain dead, ethically challenged, mental midgets think about us. It is like they didn't already think that we're the ultimate expression of evil. It isn't like if we walked in lockstep with them they still would think we're evil.

These people are nothing but hate personified, and if they don't hate us for how we're reacting to the Jackson verdict now, they will hate us for how we're reacting to the Jackson verdict later. It doesn't matter, they just have to hate, for that is all that their poor pathetic lives are centered on. It eats them and scars them, I know for I have seen some of the local freepers, and they are the most ugly pathetic creatures on the face of this Earth.

So hey people, say what you're going to say, it simply doesn't matter.

38. I too feel he is a child molester but one can only convict on evidence.
Happily, we don't convict people based on my gut feelings but, rather, on the evidence.

The prosecution must present evidence which meets a certain standard.

That standard was (I think pretty clearly) not met in this case.

Though I am convinced my gut feeling is correct, I too would not have voted to convict.

Perhaps the freepers just don't believe in evidence.

Wait... we already knew that.

What does the fact that you have children (or the fact that you
find him disgusting) have to do with MJ's guilt or innocence?

It makes us look like we think that child molestation is OK.

No, we don't think MJ was guilty of child molestation.

Than again I am fully in support of child molesters being castrated, harsh I don't care.

You don't even seem to care whether or not they are actual child
molesters, or only people who have been accused of it as part of

51. Why was he indicted in the first place?
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 05:06 PM by msmcghee
Because people believe what feels good.

If you are a DA in a big city - a high profile conviction of a purported child molester who most people already believe is disgusting and guilty, will make you millions of dollars over the rest of your career.

You will be forever known as the prosecutor who sent Michael Jackson to prison for preying on small children.

The DA wanted to believe Jackson was guilty no matter how flimsy the evidence or how unlikely the accusers were to be telling the truth. There was way too much to gain for him to be objective.

It's great when the system works. If *Bush stacks the supreme court with more RW zealots like Scalia and Thomas - just decisions where common sense over-rides mass hysteria - will be very rare in the future.

I applaud the jury and believed Jackson was being railroaded from the start.

75. Of course, you might be right. But the jury disagreed.
Sometimes juries make mistakes. Sometimes the prosecution blows its case. And rich folks typically buy themselves a much bigger "benefit of the doubt" than poor people.

But it's just one person, and the victim's parents were complicit. Plus, they'll probably get a pound of flesh out of Jacko in civil court, and he's already disdained by millions of his former fans.

Bottom line: I doubt that this verdict will destroy social security or the entire pension system. That verdict is not a direct assault on democracy and civil rights. I don't think this verdict will destroy the environment or poison millions. Nor will 1,700 American troops come home in body bags because of this verdict. So perhaps we should all just move on.

I don't for one minute think child molestation is ok and neither does anyone else here. You presume too much.

I do however think MJ was railroaded by the DA and the sensationalist press. I also think a bunch of con artists saw an opportunity for some easy money. They miscalculated. Badly.

I do also think MJ needs some psychological help... but judging from what I see people saying all over the web on a vast majority of issues & topics.............so does at least half this country..........Liberal and Conservative alike. :eyes:

I have no idea whether Jackson is guilty or innocent. All I know is that a jury of 12 peers decided that the government had not met ITS burden in attempting to limit the freedom of one of its citizens, and voted accordingly. The government *gasp* actually accepted that decision and is refusing to deprive a resident of freedom without due process of law. Shame, shame. It would be so much better if we lived in a totalitarian regime where the jury system was elimiated, right?

I am also a mother of two, would happily castrate anyone who touched my children in a sexual way, but.... I don't know what happened with MJ. If he's guilty, it's too bad he got off. Doubt he'll do it again.

But if he was innocent and punished, that would also be a travesty.

94. The facts are
that he was found innocent because the prosecution didn't deliver enough noncircumstantial evidence and in America, a person is innocent until proven guilty and he was proven not guilty. I personally am not rejoicing that a child molestor has gone free. I honestly think A LOT of Michael Jackson's quirks are weird, but that is not against the law. The case was to determine if he had done these things "beyond a reasonable doubt". The prosecution didn't do that. If he is ever found guilty of child molestation in a court of law, I'll be right there with you advocating castration. And I am not rejoicing, I am just happy to know that Nancy Grace has to eat crow now. I wonder where Hillary had the shoe cake baked...I wish I could afford to have a crow cake made for that woman. I am just rejoicing that she had her mind made up from day one and made a prediction based on her emotions and not the facts, then was proven wrong in a court of law. And call me naive, I don't care. I don't think he's guilty of child molestation. Like I said, I'd be right there with you advocating the stiffest sentence AND castration if I did believe it.

that he showed them porno, and it was never proven that he gave them alchohol(which you stated that he had), in fact he was found innocent of that. For speaking as if you have such knowledge of the subject, your command of the facts is lacking.

I think you're nuts for wanting to send someone who was never proven to have done anything immoral at all to prison for 20+ years and be considered a sex offender for the rest of his life. That is insanity. Maybe if you're ever in that situating you'll see things differently, otherwise I'm sure you'll demand to be found guilty, or that'd make you just a big hypocrite wouldn't it?

"It makes us look like we think that child molestation is OK."

Uh, no, it doesn't. If he was found guilty and given probation, THAT would make it look like we think child molestation is ok. He was found to be innocent, and so he won't go to jail, I think they call that...justice.

he showed porno to little kids and the Jury let him off? Somehow I find that hard to believe. You get that from Nancy Grace? If you can show me a credible link I would happily side with you. On the other hand the jury who had all the facts in front of them thought differently. All 12 of them. It only takes one person to get a hung jury. I thought this whole thing stunk from the beginning. Parents let their kids stay overnight with someone who has been accused of child molestation, and also held his own child over a balcony!?!? While I think he's off his rocker I find it hard to believe that all 12 people are wrong...

118. You believe he's guilty? Cheney believe's bad people are in Gitmo.
Seems like smart people created this justice system to deal with belief etc., and I am convinced that M.J. and the verdict on him has little relevance to my life, or that of my children or my grandchildren. Are you trolling us?

122. Personally, I couldn't give a rat's ass about Michael Jackson.
However, I wouldn't allow him within 100 feet of my son.

Whether he's guilty of child molestation or not, the man has some serious problems.

127. Nice to see you think that the torure and mutilation of children
by child molesters is fine.

Those are little holes, you don't think that they tear.

I never said anything about torture, but castration doens't have to be all mideval.

Just as long as they never can do those types of things to children and get off on it again.

130. how nice, but note, your slanderous remark fits you not me
you presume to attempt to put such words in my mouth after you were the one who advocates the mutilation of another person?

your despicable remarks tells the world more about what kind of person you are than it does me.

btw: you say that you never said anything about torture, are you really out so far out were the buses don't run to understand that mutilating the body of another person is torture?

the words i have to say about your comments would get me banned from this site.

what kind of person are you who thinks it is acceptable to torture another human being?

have you no shame at all?

No wonder they hate us.

126. Bullshit.
The man was given a fair trial with a jury of his peers. Far as I know, you weren't at the trial so how you seem to be so convinced of his guilt is beyond me. Isn't this the second time some money-grubbing Mom tried to whore her son out to get a few mil for the family? Jackson was cleared in that case as well. Today, he was pretty assuredly acquitted. Get over it.

Being relieved that the justice system seems to have worked just fine in this case is nothing to feel embarassed about. I'd be all for child molesters being castrated too, but I'm relatively sure MJ isn't one of them. And, apparently, neither does a jury of his peers.

BTW, no one here thinks child molestation is okay, and anyone who thinks it "makes us look like we think" it is okay is a colossal moron. I highly suspect most of us here couldn't give a rat's ass what the freepers think of us (I know I surely don't).

128. With all due respect Melody
Michael Jackson did not have to prove his innocence.
The state had to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and they didn't meet their burden.
Their civic duty was to acquit him. That is the only reason I am happy with the verdict. Every verdict that citizens render for the right reason is a victory for justice overall and gives me hope that our country isn't as far gone as I think sometimes.
That doesn't mean I think he is innocent, because I really don't.
However, the only proof I have is that I think he is a freak--but that in of itself is not reason to persecute or prosecute anyone.
I heard the best quote on it though (paraphrased)---was that just like Michael Jackson dangled his son over the balcony--this mother dangled her child over Jackson's bed.
In fact--if the molestation did occur--I hold the mother as responsible as Jackson for allowing her son to be in the bed of a 45-yr old man. She is just as complicit as he is.
With that being said--I certainly hope that he learned his lessons and stops having pre-teen slumber parties. I don't believe next time he will get a free pass.

134. like I give a fuck
FR? Who the fuck are they? The verdict was a victory for due process and defendants rights. The prosecution didn't prove the case. You or anyone else haven't been able to prove that Jackson did anything wrong. Look at the young men who testified to sleeping in Jackson's bed who said nothing happened. That, plus the inability of the original victim to back up his claims with evidence, created more than enough reasonable doubt. Jackson should not have been convicted of these charges and it is wrong to flail insults around that are nothing but unproven slander.

But you go right ahead. It's a free country.

135. rather than pursuing justice for Bush and his buddies for the
unnecessary slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens and almost 2,000 Americans, torture, detainment of hundreds (thousands?) of people with no charges and no access to family or lawyers, lying to the American public, shredding Constitutional protections of privacy and due process, trashing of the environment, lowering of industrial standards for pollution, robbing of the U.S. Treasury for personal gain, meddling in the political affairs of South and Central American countries, etc. etc. ad nauseum, you are free to pursue "justice" for one individual eccentric whom YOU presume guilty even after a lengthy trial concluded otherwise.

Your remarks are so off the wall I can't even begin to figure them out. "Making us look bad"? gee, I really care what a bunch of people who think it is okay to bomb a sovereign nation back to the stone age just because they're pissed about 9-11, with no proof whatsoever that that nation had anything at all to do with it or would be a danger to the U.S. or any other country.

hey, isn't that the same thing you're talking about? a judgment of GUILT with no proof--at least in MJ's case there was actually a trial and all evidence was brought forth. Weren't you watching?
