Pssst. Over here. Poll: Six in 10 Want Troops to Leave Iraq
WASHINGTON - Six in 10 Americans say they think the United States should withdraw some or all of its troops from
Iraq — the highest number who have said that in the Gallup poll.

About three in 10 want the U.S. to withdraw all troops now, and about three in 10 said some troops should be withdrawn now. A majority, 56 percent, said they would be upset if more troops are sent to Iraq, according to the poll released Monday.

Support for staying in Iraq has also dropped in a Pew Research Center poll. People were about evenly split on whether the U.S. should keep troops in Iraq until the country is stabilized or bring them home as soon as possible.

Two-thirds in an ABC-Washington Post poll, also taken in early June, say they think the United States has gotten bogged down in the war in Iraq.

2. And the recruitment figures would seem to indicate
that the 40% that think we should "soldier on" ain't running down to the local recruiter to volunteer as a replacement for those that have done, one, two or three tours there.

4. thanks for posting this
What's amazing about this poll is that despite the silence of our Democratic leaders on the subject of Iraq (well, most of them - Ted Kennedy has been terrific), despite the silence of the media in reporting what's really happening on the ground, despite the lies of the administration - the American people still get it. They see through the bullshit and want change.

I had given up on the public after they elected a dunce like Ronald Reagan not only once but twice. My faith is starting to become restored.

We'd all reather talk about how gut feeling is the best evidence in a trial.

The democrats need to kick up such a stink about this. I don't care how they do it as long as they can get the MSM to talk about it.

6. I think it's time for Democrats to take the lead here.
Democrats need to say:

1) Bush was wrong for going to war without any imminent threat.

2) We were wrong for listening to his lies (at least those who went along).

3) Iraq is a mess best left to Iraqis ASAP.

4) Dems can make the hard choices to save American lives (and scores of billions of tax dollars) because this is Bush's war, not ours.

That is a winning message.
