Freedom Fries Jones Calls for Withdrawal Timetable
This was in the local paper today, sorry for no link.

Representative Walter Jones, Republican of coastal North Carolina, is the man responsible for the freedom fries bullshit. In honor of his altering the menus of the three House restaurants to show his disdain for a culinary technique, I shall now call him FFJ--Freedom Fries Jones.

FFJ now joins Senator Kennedy in calling for a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq. Says he, pResident Bush received bad information from the neocons (that's what he called them!) in the Defense Department.

So let me see: The FFJ scorecard:

* Voting for the war: -1
* Stirring up freeper pseudopatriotism: -1
* Believing Bush just got misled: -1
* Calling for Iraq withdrawal: +1

He's still down by two, but at least it's a start.

2. figuring out he's been had. One point for getting it,
negative ten for taking some 1700 American and tens of thousand of Iraqi civilian lives and four bil a month to get it.

4. It's more like "FFJ was misled"
No one gave the Bush boy any "bad information." His buddies helped him cook it up.

9. Of COURSE he's worried about reelection!
He's a congressman who gave George W. Bush carte blanche to murder his constituents. You're fuckin' a right he's worried about reelection!

5. What I think caused FFJ to switch
I don't think it was the Downing Street Minutes or any of those other things that should be screwing Bush's ass to the wall right about now. FFJ's district contains Camp Lejeune and its supporting Marine Corps Air Station New River.

Jacksonville sent a lot of jarheads to the war, and some of them didn't come back. The parents and spouses of those dead Marines would like to know that their loved ones didn't die in vain. Sadly, FFJ can't tell them that.

6. The Silence Is Deafening
Remember how fast the corporate media and hate radio was on the "Freedom Fries" crap. They sure listened to Walter Jones then. I remember seeing him with O'Reilly...all but ready to burn French flags. Oh how we forget our friends.

Jones is just a chip in the iceberg. He reminds me of Jim McCloskey...one of the few Repugnicans against the Vietnam war...he became a very lonely party of one. I give the guy some props for seeing reality, but also, it's shameful how many others see the same thing he does and remain compicit in this carnage and profiteering.

Shameful!
