Okay, big mistake.
Decided to do something a little different and go to Reno NV on vacation instead of trying to make Vegas into a rut.
Anyway, I hoped that the weather would be warmer than in the Cleveland Ohio area.
Now, I don't expect Reno to be as hot as Vegas, but PLEASE tell me that the weather is normally warmer in June!
A bit of back history. My mother-in-law went to Las Vegas a few years ago (her second trip). Vegas is an oasis (man-made) in the middle of a desert.
Except when she got there. They had a huge amount of rain, and the Vegas floods made national news.
August 2003, Northern and Eastern US had a massive blackout. Except at my mother-in-law's house - she and a line of neighbors had power; not a generator. We started joking about how she was in league with the devil, or a witch. We also joked about how the space station was looking at the US and seeing one porch light on in the vast darkness of a good chunk of the US.
So, when we arranged to go to Reno, we joked with her that she would get there (in June) and there would be a blizzard.
WTF, the morning after we arrive (6/7), Virginia City has half an inch of snow. The rest of the week had chilly, rainy temperatures. At best, it got into the low seventies (F).
Please tell me that it was supposed to be warmer in Reno in June than it was last week . . . PLEASE!

2. We had an unusually wet winter this year and a very late spring. |
|
We're supposed to be back in the 80's this week. The thing about the Truckee Meadows (the valley Reno and Sparks are located in) is it's one of the most difficult places in the country to accurately predict the weather.
Did you at least enjoy your stay? :)

4. The weather was the one bad point |
|
(stayed at Circus Circus).
Getting there was a real adventure . . . no non-stops from Cleveland. And American Airlines, if this is any indication, should really just fold up and die . . .
But once we got there, we had a great time. The cooler weather was very kind to my MIL.
And I didn't miss the porn distributors/time-share salespeople at all . . .

until late August.
apologies for the weather. Northern Nevada has had more rain and snow than ever recorded in history this short year.
