1. This is Friday's list.
Seems a few more people have been added since, Now the list has around 80 names.

I imagine the list will be updated tomorrow morning.

2. "Anti-Lynching Bill"?
Is that the name of a Bill recently introduced in the Senate, or does it go by another name?

Having just recently watched the DVD "Rosewood", I'm presently ill-equipped to accept any fanciful hyperbole.

3. That parallels my response too actually
Lynching really did happen, and it's not something to make light of.

Plus, I think that's what the blog called it that where I read it from too.

It is referred to "Anti Lynching Legislation" here.

"ex-felons" politically, in very large numbers. After they've served their sentences, in those states they cannot vote for the rest of their lives, except when Governors grant written exceptions. For this reason, along with ten-to-one racial disparities in incarceration, in those states up to ONE-THIRD of African-American men could not legally vote during the last "election". 7. There actually are 3 groups of Senators: 45 were onboard by mid-Feb,
16 joined as cosponsors last week, and 39 hadn't cosponsored as of last Thursday.

All but six still not on board are Republicans, mainly from the deep South and from Western states with relatively few African-Americans. The shockers: Neither of Ohio's Republican Senators had cosponsored, nor had Chafee, Grassley, Warner, Wyden, or Reed.

Thus the Republicans have passed up a golden opportunity to give "left cover" to their campaign against the filibuster.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The list of 61 sponsors and cosponsors is at http://www.congress.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d109:SE00039:@@@P .

Those who came on board last week included 9 Democrats:
D-DE Carper, Thomas
D-HI Inouye, Daniel
D-MD Mikulski, Barbara
D-ND Dorgan, Byron
D-NE Nelson, Ben
D-NY Clinton, Hillary
D-WA Cantwell, Maria
D-WA Murray, Patty
D-WV Byrd, Robert

and 7 Republicans:
R-ID Craig, Larry
R-MN Coleman, Norm
R-NC Burr, Richard
R-NM Domenici, Pete
R-OK Coburn, Tom
R-SC DeMint, Jim
R-SC Graham, Lindsey

Those still not on board included 6 Democrats and 33 Republicans:
D-MT Baucus, Max
D-ND Conrad, Kent
D-NM Bingaman, Jeff
D-OR Wyden, Ron
D-RI Reed, Jack
D-WV Rockefeller, John
R-AK Murkowski, Lisa
R-AL Sessions, Jeff
R-AL Shelby, Richard
R-AZ Kyl, Jon

17. conrad burns- big surprise
Near botton of page http://www.pla.blogspot.com/2002_12_22_pla_archive.html :

Back In 1994, while campaigning for a second term, Mr. Burns dropped by a local newspaper, The Bozeman Daily Chronicle, and told an editor an anecdote about one of his constituents, a rancher who wanted to know what life was like in Washington, D.C.

The senator said the rancher asked him, "Conrad, how can you live back there with all those niggers?"

Senator Burns said he told the rancher it was "a hell of a challenge."

The anecdote was published and Senator Burns apologized. When he was asked why he hadn't expressed to the rancher any disapproval of the use of the word nigger, Senator Burns said, "I don't know. I never give it much thought."

10. Elizabeth DOLE and that nasty ass Saxby Chambliss aren't there....
Why, the woman who wanted to be First Lady isn't on this list?

NO! :eyes:

This issue makes me fairly angry, and it seems, as usual, some of our "brothers" are showing yet again their compassionate conservative side.

12. WHO ARE WHO ARE THE TWELVE? WHO ARE THE TWELVE? WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/06/over-dozen-us-senators-refuse-to-sign.html
___________________________________________________________________

WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?

This SHOULD be a rallying cry for the Dems. The party needs to make hay out of this...rather than enabling it. Every speech Howard Dean gives, he should ask this question. It should be in our avatars. When we send emails, it ought to be part of our signature line.

When Republicans go into black communities this ought to be the first, last and every question in between. Like Dean said about support of the Voting Rights Act, this should also be a litmus test for Black support. What was your position on the anti-lynching legislation? How did YOU vote? WHO ARE THE TWELVE that voted against it?

WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?
WHO ARE THE TWELVE?

25. I guess KBH is tired of being the Less-Crazy Senator from Texas.
Now that she's preparing to enter the Republican primary as the Less-Crazy Candidate for Governor. (No formal word yet, but it's expected.)

When Kinky Friedman begins to look normal, you know things are getting weird. But Texas is not lost as long as we can keep producing folks like the Kinkster.
