Hang in there, I think they'll be going down soon... |

I have a feeling the empire is getting ready to implode. Does anyone else feel that way? I think the Neocons will all be going down shortly.

1. I hope you are right! But they control so much--- I can't get |
|
out of my head what Mark Crispin Miller said-- "These people are in power, and they aren't leaving!"

2. Like rats running from a flood |

I don't think they will go quickly or without a very ugly fight. The religious extremists will resort to violence if they feel power slipping from their hands, but they'll be too stupid to get off the ship before it sinks. Probably more likely to end with a wimper after it has been clear to everyone that they are doomed for a long time - right wing history repeats itself. Think Hitler, Berlin, May 1945.

It's always hard to say how many have to die for ideolgoues. But it's far from over and YET their hubris is always their downfall.

6. I've felt that way several times, most recently last Nov. |
|
I have to believe, and I do, that something so wrong as the bush/cheney regime, from the beginning, cannot exist past some point - its actions catching up to them.
I believe the regime will collapse under the weight of its own deceptions. I believe there is a force of nature, a law of reality, that will demand it. I believe it is inescapable. Call it paying the piper, reaping what one sows, what goes around comes around - I believe they will fall.
Whether DSM, and the Iraq lies and resulting mass deaths and other damage is what does it, and it damn well should be those crimes that come back to do them in, I'm hopeful, but cautious.

9. I agree. I also think there is ONE thing that brings them down. |
|
Iraq. I was around during Vietnam; it's gradually dawning on everyone that we are in a quagmire. They don't want us there and we are propping up a government that does not represent all the people. The similarities are amazing.

7. See, I just don't get that |
|
It's fine to have a feeling, whatever that means, but where does it come from? The neocons, or empire builders, or whatever they're called, have been around since day one of civilization. They never go away. They'll die eventually(except for Cheney of course), but those brain types are born everyday. That's why humans are destined to fight the same battles again and again. That's why we still have wars for land, resources, religion, anything. That's why we still exploit people.

The longer this goes, the worse and more horrible will be the break. Everything in the neocon strategy is to build power. The longer it takes for people to see through it... Well, you get the idea.
That's precisely why Dems have to stick together, keep speaking for truth, and stay organized.

The problem is, that we'll go down with the country as it goes down with the PNACers. And the world economy may go down with the American economy.

14. Nah. It will take more than the people turning against them, |
|
Wall Street will also have to turn against them big time - like they did with Nixon - before they go down. Reports of their deaths are greatly exaggerated.

16. One can only hope. AND SIGN THE FUCKING PETITIONS. |
|
And protest where appropriate. And be the media. But I do a lot of praying. And as an agnostic, that's an effort for me. Because I'm still so afraid of what could come next.

I'm not going to hold my breath. *sigh* But one can hope. I'm just happy that Bush's numbers are so low.
