Why don't these two things ever get any attention?
I am in the minority on thinking that they are things we definately need to do? Should I try to get someone else to post them, cause if you dislike me, that's fine, that doesn't change how important it is that we do these.

Millions against the Media Marches:

Democratic Contract with America:

Please consider them. Please.

1. i am going to try to answer melodybe
though it is awfully late and i coulndt sleep. so i am back up

your contract of america sounds like a wonderful idea. it is well thought out. dont you need to get this to like s senator and let them jump on board with it. i am not getting what you want me to do with it. you have articualted well. maybe dean can get something going on it. i think it is a grand idea. wouldnt hurt the democrats to have a clear cut outline of what their goals are

the media march

i live in the f*ckin panhandle of texas. i will be the only one with a sign and people wont even know what i am protesting. i dont live anywhere i could be active. i dont have any large area i could even commute to participate in.

it is not that i am not interested. both are good ideas. if you cant get people to help with the march on this board, try the democratic orginizations in the big cities. i havent looked closely at that one, i dont know what you have accomplished on it.

2. Good idea, I'll try getting in touch with the city dems tomorrow.
As for the Contract with America I just want as much discussing, clarifying, and focus grouping as possible, any thing that you might want to add I welcome.

Thanks for the attention.

3. i really liked what you covered.
you covered important issues. and they arent the piddly issues i see dems going after. they are the strong issue that will promote the party to all. i will read it more closely tomorrow. you guys just did a good job

maybe if they still have the kerry meetups. or if kerry has a board i dont know. we had them in amarillo, i just never got to them, and i think the group has finally stopped. i dont know that they have stopped in more dem oriented areas

4. Post it in the Media Forum and the Activism Forum
It won't sink so fast there. The Media forum is for people who are
focused on media issues, and the Activism forum is a place to announce
demonstations and the like.

What do you think of my suggestion of coordinating the protest with a
one-day boycott of the media companies' other lines of business?

A little more emphasis on what you are trying to do, rather than
dissing us for being apathetic or not liking you would help.

Most of us don't have either the expertise or the organizational
skills to plan, organize, and acquire permits for a demonstration
in a major city. That does not make us apathetic.

6. I love your idea.
If everyone that was pissed stayed home from work for one day in protest it would be crushing!

Well I'm calling the head dems in those cities tomorrow, maybe that will help.

I'm going over to those forums now.

5.  A Democrat version of "Contract with America"..
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 02:42 AM by LaPera
IS an absolute necessity...Think what can be accomplished. There is no other way democrats can take back the Congress...

Still, electronic voting machines, under the Bush/Cheney/Rove plan "Help America Vote" legislation (meaning, more of the same republican owned voting machines), now, even in California...will make it nearly impossible, unless there's a plan.

The Dems sit on their collective asses and assume, political contributions can and will make the difference...IT WON'T!

Money? If necessary, as proven in 2004 will never be the issue, we now watch as Kerry was left with how much of OUR donations?

No, It's going to be a very tough fight, And, if ignored, it will leave us, again, without a voice in Congress, for truth, hope and our freedom, sincerely.

A Democrat venison of a "Contract with America" for 2006, has to be designed & scripted in this important off year election...As it was for the republicans in the off year election of 1994.

However, the democrats then will be counted on to defend such a bold "contract" as the republicans embraced in 1994, (all lies, as it has proven to be), the talking heads (Limbaugh and the like, will mock the concept), even though they did the same.

Can we count on the Dems to be strong and fight the opposition?

In so much, there has to be a plan and it has to be supported!

7. Great Ideas...And Suggestions
Yes, please work on these ideas and see if you can find a Senator, Congressman/woman or other high profile Democrat to see what you've come up with. A George Lakoff may be very interested...he impressed me when I saw him on WJ last week.

Regarding the march, I've long suggested two or three "media" marches that would be part party part message. One would be in Atlanta...right in front of CNNServative...let's see if we can get 100,000 of our closest friends into the "tour". Then another march, like the one last year during the RNC, right down corporate row in New York. Let's stroll past Matt & Katie's window and waive at those fine folks at Faux while 200,000 of us roll past. Then there's one we could do in Washington...1,000,000 on the mall...byo!

In unity there is strength and where our movement will grow. Many got caught up in the Vietnam anti-war movement not as much as they hated the war as they loved the cause and the people. It was as much a cultural awakening as a political one. If we can recreate this, we've opened the doors to some real change.

Last thing, I'm inviting people to join in on "Truth Squadding". It's my fun game of confronting local right wing talk radio hosts with something they rarely get...a doseage of reality. It's amazing how rare many of these blowhards on your local stations ever are confronted by a "librul" or one that speaks strongly, boldly and can outshout them. It's also great therapy...primal screaming, but with a purpose.

Cheers.
