I just stopped listening to liberal talk radio
I was listening to Springer, and the vile crap that was coming from the program was too much. The MJ trial is OVER, I don't need to hear a MJ impersonator singing songs on how he is a pedophile. So, I switched over to Miller, just as bad. She admits that she didn't follow the case, but apparently, she knows the truth, and MJ is guilty.

I listen to liberal radio to learn about the truth, about politics, not about a trial that has been played out in the tabloids for the past year. Is it no wonder that he was advised to pay off his accusers years ago? I have never heard of another suspect having his genitals photographed, without ever being charged.

I don't know for sure whether he did it or not, I suspect not. And, I thought liberal radio was better than the tabloids, but I guess not. No matter what the courts say, you are guilty because the media has said you are.

6. I disagree.
Yesterday, all I herad from any sort of media, save the dear ol' internet which has no choice, was Michael Jacson this and Michael Jackson that. Then, whenever I went anywhere or talked to anyone, it was more of the same. I got the "Did you hear? He's blah, blah etc."

I'm guessing that the original poster is just like me; one of the distinct minority that doesn't give a flying FUCK about Michael Jackson. I'm with you on this one, OP, this thing has gotten WAY out of hand. Hell, I turned on Hannity (know thy enemy), and even THAT asshat was MJ'ed out. All of this hoopla makes me remember why I quit watching TV (except for new Family Guy episodes).

Too much shouting, I don't need the headache. While I recognize that some will argue that such shooting is justified because if you're not shouting you aren't paying attention - but shouting just turns everyone off.

And Randi is a detriment.

9. I disagree. The shouting is what has made Conservative radio so
successful. It isn't going to win over folks like you and me who don't like that shit but does appeal to the moderate types who get sucked into Hannity and Limbaugh who don't necessarily indentify as conservatives but who get sucked into the shout match. I think people like Randi fill an important void in the struggle. I prefer listening to Franken, however. He, at least, researches, really thinks, and interviews very consequential guests. If anyone is a detriment I would say it's Janeanne - but I love her anyway. She's so passionate. I think she shoots from the hip way too much though. Still I think wee need them.

which of course turns me off to them, but our guys and gals just seem to shout all-the-time.

4. Have you listened to Limbaugh lately? Hannity?
This is what "personalities" do. They need to interest their listeners by providing a little shock, a little fun, a little everything. We can say we want to be better than "them," but in the end, we're all just people and we all have the same innate love of the salacious. It's entertainment as Newsfotainment.

Look at it another way; why did it take so long to get "liberal" radio? I'll tell you why...it is boring as hell sitting around listening to people simply agree to look further into issues. That is basically what we dems to...we consider, we reason, we find alternatives. That makes boring radio. If you want any liberal radio at all, allow them some leeway to entertain, too. A twenty-four all-serious-news channel would last about 1 week.

Honestly, I like him the best. Pure 100% reason.

I mean I love Mike Malloy, but sometimes I get so angry listening to him I have to stop.

Hartmann, on the other hand, is sweet reason.

18. I agree!
I, too, love listening to Hartmann in the mornings - he is so intelligent and well-spoken.

And he's actually talking about real politics and not Jacko! *g*

Why can't AAR sign him? He would do so much to get the word out and, more importantly, he allows dissenting opinions and actually engages in, gasp, debate with them. He's passionate, articulate, and intelligent.

Listening to the Senate hearing on N.Korea and how "The Bush" Cult hasn't got a clue what to do about it. RandI Rhodes will not have any MJ crap on her show.

16. Pissing in the Culture Trough
SF's Air America Radio station, the quake, pulled Morning Sedition and replaced it with... Jerry Springer. I liked that show, but I'm not going to podcast it, sit by my computer for the stream @ 3 am pacific.

AAR irked me by throwing in with Springer. He sounds pretty smart from what I've read of his opinions, but shouldn't there be a rule about pissing in the cultural trough for 20 years, then trying to assuage your guilty liberal conscious and retool yourself as a liberal voice?

Maybe he could use his celebrity to highlight the red state stupidity! I mean if he started putting just inbred republicans on his TV show, to highlight how far the culture has fallen. oh wait i guess thats waht he's been doing. ;-)

I mean, he used to do shows about, well. . . anything. Jackson is probably too familiar for him to just leave it alone.

But he also tends to fall into these sorts of topics because he is so used to discussing it. Though the day he was on The Daily Show (years ago) was great. He basically came on and, in a remorseful voice, said that he was a horrible person for the show he does, and that his show was the worst sort of filth a person could ever degrade themselves by doing. He was kidding, but he was kidding on the square, and you could tell. It actually was the first time I thought to myself, "Well, now I almost kind of like the guy, since he's so up front about that."

I listen to AAR as well, but I donate and listen to KPFA even though I'm on the east coast. My local Pacifica station is getting better (WPFW), but I still prefer KPFA's Morning Show and Against The Grain over anything currently on radio.

13. So Many Bought Into The Corporate Media Lie
Unless you sat in that trial and took in every bit of evidence and saw all the testimony, you have no clue what it took for the juror to decide and why they came to those decisions.

However, if you thought Jacko was guilty...good chance you bought into all the crap being peddled by the telepundits on corporate media...who had long since convicted Jacko of being Guilty of being wierd and thus must be guilty of all else. Fortunately, jurors hearing the truth...the evidence...thought different. Sorta tells you something.

If so many people could buy into this corporate media lie, this of how many bought into the lie about WMD and the Iraq invasion.

19. Springer is becoming a disappointment
for me.... I am totally surprised he has devoted his whole show today to MJ... but besides this I have been disgusted with him lately.... He's basically a whimp. I heard him discusing issues with freeper callers and instead of setting them straight, he's always trhing to find middle ground, even though the caller says some of the worst BS.

I'm almost ready to say Fuck Springer... but I will give him a few more chances.

21. Trying to find the middle ground is how you reach others.
Springer always does this. He doesn't argue with them, he tries to reason with them and agree with them on some things. It's a way to get republican voters to "think".

(and I have a strong radio and journalism background)...liberal radio is preaching to the choir. The wingnuts can babble as they want on their own bullshit media outlets, but listening to liberal radio (and I am as far left as anyone I know!)is about as fascinating to me as reading the instructions on the back of my shampoo.

Just yesterday a poster here pursuaded me to try Stephanie Miller. So I turn her on today and what do I hear?: "Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson...." I turn the speakers down, thinking, okay, we'll give her a few minutes to get off this segment and she'll go on to other issues. Speakers go back up: "....Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson...."

Springer? I ain't even gonna go there.

Gaahhhhh! I'm catching up on Rachel Maddows' archives until Franken comes on.
