Microsoft censors "freedom", "democracy" "human rights" on Chinese web
So if there was ever any doubt that the corporate fascist elite in this country really care about anything other than 'profit uber alles', this should convince you they are evil evil evil. (Just imagine how they rig the news at MSNBC to appease their war mongering owners.)

BEIJING Users of Microsoft's new Internet portal in China are being blocked from using the words "democracy," "freedom" and "human rights," in an apparent move by the U.S. software giant to appease Beijing.

Other words that could not be used Monday on Microsoft's free online blog service, MSN Spaces, included "Taiwan independence" and "demonstration."

Bloggers who enter such words or other politically charged or pornographic content are prompted with a message that reads: "This item should not contain forbidden speech such as profanity. Please enter a different word for this item...

Microsoft is not the only international technology company to comply with China's stringent Internet rules. The Internet search engines Yahoo and Google have been criticized for cooperating with the government to censor the Web.
