them. Ask your congressman. Talk about them.
Yeah, I'm one that is spreading this around DU. I think the mention of the death chamber tied to Rummy and bush's unwillingness to close down Gitmo could work in our favor.

8. Well, that was two years ago, and... |
|
it was just in the planning stage. Dunno if they actually built one.
Now, I don't agree one bit with the whole idea of Gitmo, and I certainly don't believe in the death penalty at all, much less when imposed by secret military courts in secret trials. But I don't see anything extraordinary for a regime that believes in capital punishment and death by any and all means for its enemies to plan a death chamber.
In fact, I can't imagine this crew not finding some excuse to build a death chamber. It's the sort of thing that makes them drool over their erections.
And, it's just one more reason why they have to go.
Now, here's a thought to rile the lurking Freepers and LGFs...
When studying ethics, one weights intent and effect. Is a good outcome from a bad intention really a good thing? Should someone be sanctioned for a bad outcome from good intentions? Where do you draw the line on the end justifying the means? Where do you draw the line on the original intent of an act?
When you start looking at actions through the various ethical glasses, you start asking odd questions, and one would be...
On your moral scale, who would you consider worse-- Nazis who killed millions largely for their convenience but who generally took no pleasure in it, or the present crew in the White House who haven't killed nearly as many, but who appear to take pleasure in even the innocents they do kill?

21. "nazis ... took no pleasure in (killing millions)"?? |
|
not sure what you're basing that assertion on.
nor do i follow the point in distinguishing between their "convenience" and their "pleasure".

23. I Think the Meaning Was... |
|
...that the "average" member of the Nazi party, those who joined because if they did not, they would be targets themselves, took no joy in the genocide.
This can be partially evidenced by memos released after the war whereby administration officials described hesitation by troops to kill innocent men, women and children in cold blood.
It was partially for this reason (not to mention saving bullets for Russian troops and plain old evil German efficiency) that the gas chambers were devised.
I am not being a Nazi apologist. In any war, in any country, in any military: one who shoots or rapes a civilian or kills a wounded or taken enemy combatant or a member of the press, is a murderer in every sense of the word.
Unfortunately, even some Nazis were human beings. Not that it stopped them from doing horrible, horrible things, though.
This is why it is so important to get this Administration the hell out of power, before too many more of OUR human beings end up the same way.

24. then it's not a fair comparison at all |
|
to compare current white house officials to rank-and-file nazis isn't right at all.
the comparison should be of current white house officials to hitler's inner circle, who created the gas chambers and order the genocide.
any comparison to nazi rank-and-file should be to republican rank-and-file. i'll go along with the idea that in both cases there may (have been) individuals who quietly sickened by or possibly obivious to the true depths of evil in their respective organizations.
in the case of republicans, there are MANY republicans who are primarily so out of lifelong habit, formed based on a philosophy that is no longer in evidence in today's party.

The rest of the enlightened world is outlawing State Sponsored Executions (What the sheeple refer to as The Death Penalty). It seems as if the * Administration LOVES THEIR RETRIBUTION.
How Christian of them. :sarcasm:

Secret detention. Torture. Secret tribunals. Executions. All safely off shore and thus difficult to challenge in court due to lack of jurisdiction.
Anyone can end up in our gulag.
But not to worry, only the guilty are taken away.
