<snip>

The outlay that the Republican Party is putting up for Mrs. Coley's candidacy is also a big deal. In politics, there is the saying that "you are expected to dance with the one that brung you." This raises the question of where Mrs. Coley's loyalty will lie when the interest of the party conflicts with that of the people.

It's nothing personal. I just have a problem with the Republican Party steamrolling and the Democrat Party rolling over. I have a problem with political theatrics that rob the voters of real choice.

I do not know Carl Joaquin Duncan, the Democratic candidate in this race. I do know, however, that the party's failure to really contest this seat tells me that the Democrats are out of touch with my views of what should be happening in this state.

I'll be asking Elections Supervisor Ion Sancho to change my party affiliation to independent with all due speed.

We are awaiting the results.
