Bushco's Brilliant Contribution To American Political Strategy:
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 09:59 PM by DistressedAmerican

Lie so much everyone stops giving a shit!

It is so simple, so elegant, so sublime!

So far, it has been a fantastic success. I see each lie and think will this be the final straw. Inevitably, I find out it is not.

Finally it hit me. Each of these lies does not weaken the Bush regime's position, it strengthens it.

Admittedly they are just building on a long worn tradition of political lies.

If you can simply desensitize America to your lying and stealing, you are golden. Each lie just makes the next less important. Hell, after the WMD Whopper, nothing has seemed like much of an issue.

I can see it all so clearly now! These guys really are brilliant!

We are fucked!

1. When the Lie's so Big, by Frank Zappa
They don't make a noise
They tell 'em so well
Like a secret disease
That makes you go numb

With a big ol' lie
And a flag and a pie
And a mom and a bible
Most folks are just liable
To buy any line
Any place, any time

When the lie's so big
As in Robertson's case,
(That sinister face
Behind all the Jesus hurrah)

Could result in the end
To a worrisome trend
In which every American
Not "born again"
Could be punished in cruel and unusual ways
By this treacherous cretin
Who tells everyone
That he's Jesus' best friend

When the lie's so big
And the fog gets so thick
And the facts disappear
The Republican Trick
Can be played out again
People, please tell me when
We'll be rid of these men!

Just who do they really
Suppose that they are?
And how did they manage to travel as far
As they seem to have come?
Were we really that dumb?

People, wake up
Figure it out
Religious fanatics
Around and about
The Court House, The State House,
The Congress, The White House

Criminal saints
With a "Heavenly Mission" --
A nation enraptured
By pure superstition

When the lie's so big
And the fog gets so thick
And the facts disappear
The Republican Trick
Can be played out again
People, please tell me when
We'll be rid of these men

3. There are just so damn many of them
Even if you do care, the lies come at you like a swarm of killer bees. You rebut one and there are ten more the next day. People think they can't all be lies, but they can and are.

5. corporate media
This meme has been arising from the GOP long before bushco. It is a
neocon meme from the 70's if not further back, to sew irrelevance in to
the public mind by subverting the 4th estate. With the fairness doctrine
gone, this increased geometrically. With the cold war ending, the
gloves came off in terms of the sorts of deception that became
saleable on public airwaves.

The GOP are the lackeys of the corporate neo-militarist state, and of
course they would endorse entirely the runaway bride, terry shiavo,
Michael jackson and finally come out with their POV which is: that
everyone is entitled to their opinion. This is a total post-modern
take on the 4th estate of the media. No longer is it newspapers speaking
as an important voice for the truth and "the people", but rather just
another bullshitter spewing lies like any other... and the checkpoint
value of a free fair independent plural media is destroyed, along with
all the checkpoints of the newtonian constitution between the first
3 estates, leaving only the 5th estate (dick cheney) as the power
behind the throne.

The lies of the corporatists have fully transcended the GOP, that to
attempt to pin that tail to the elephant is disingenuous... the virus
has spread much further and wider.

6. And then wonder why military recruiting is down.
I agree that the repug strategy is to make Americans feel so helpless and disgusted that they either drop out or "join" the winning team.

But then they wonder why patriotism doesn't cause more people to sign up for their wars. Why are people so damn cynical, they wonder from their comfortable offices?

8. Let's see some Democrats try that.
They'd be crucified in the corporate media.

The Bush Administration has gotten away with it for so long only because the corporate media refuses to hold them accountable. And still- people are beginning to wake up and see them for waht they are.

I'll tell you- I doubt this "lie non-stop" strategy is going to seem all that smart in a year or two. It's catching up with them, big time.

10. There's nothing brilliant about a lie you know is a lie....
And its catching up to them, with due swiftness, since they can't lie on top of the lies....Otherwise they'd be telling the truth! ;)
