My magnet got a thumbs up today from an unlikely (I guess) source

I drive a Sonata with a magnet that says "Support the Troops - end the war now". I have had it for several months now, it never garnered any attention. Today I was at a stop light and heard a horn behind me tooting, and I looked to see a 50-ish guy with a bushy beard on a Harley giving me a thumbs up. At the NEXT kight he pulled up along side me and repeated the gesture, which I then returned.

Hmm. A clean-cut college professor and a scruffy-looking Harley agreeing on the war. Another demographic in our corner.

1. I was behind a car the other day with a bumpersticker that said

"Nurses don't believe Bush's Lies" -- must have been on her way to work, the hospital was nearby. I beeped my horn and gave her the thumbs up and the sign of peace. I'm seeing a lot of antiwar stickers around town these days, but then, I live in the DC suburbs.

2. my 10 and 7 year old gave thumbs up to 50ish fellow driver

who had a "texas democrat" sticker on his car yesterday. the man broke into the biggest of smiles, and boys had smiles from ear to ear. was grand. we dont get to do that often around here

3. You sound suprised...

Most bikers value their freedom most, and they can see their freedoms being eroded. Also alot of bikers are Vets, and know exactly how Bush and his buddies are going to "support the troops" when they get home. I have alot of biker buddies and only a couple of the deepest "Murika love it or leave it" guys support the war.

And will do my best to be in front of any car sporting a W 04 or a Bush/Cheney 04 sticker.

The other day I was at an ATM machine and the car behind me honked their horn and said they loved my bumper stickers! We are slowly winning them over.
