Why don't people just start picketing Fred Phelps?

We tried to once, I made a sign that said 'GOD HATES FRED PHELPS' but the bastard hit the earlier service and we missed him. :evilfrown:

The last time he was here he stood on a street corner denouncing gays with about 12 to 15 followers. On the opposite street corner was about 150 telling him to go home. It will be bigger than that at Carrie's funeral tomorrow.

he doesn't really have power. most people are turned off by him including most Republicans. this asshole even picketed REAGAN'S funeral.

when it comes to policy and other things he doesn't have much influence.

that he gets support from some other organizations that can use him as a foil.

Might even get it from some gay organizations.

Focus on the Family and that ilk can use himn to say "We're not nuts like him."

Gay rights orgs. can use him to make the whole right wing look insane, and get sympathy.

Phelps is a tool. Just whose tool we don't really know.

5. i assume he isn't living a very luxurious lifestyle

meaning large expensive homes and taking exotic vacations with very expensive cars and designer clothes and beauty treatments etc.

i'm sure he is comfortable in that he has a nice place to stay and food. and it's probably paid for by his followers who aren't many as compared to the nation's population as a whole but enough to support him.

but you know how televangelists always look like they are wearing thousand dollar suits and had an expensive hairstyle ? and their wives always have that overly made up at the beauty salon look ? Phelps and his family don't really have that look.
