Just received this from AAR |
|
Dear Loyal Air America Radio Listeners: As you are aware, beginning July 11th, Air America Radio will broadcast exclusively with XM Satellite Radio. This partnership is giving us an extra leg to stand on, allows us to develop more programming, and moves us forward into the future with a strong foundation. We recognize that this change has inconvenienced you. We greatly value your support for Air America Radio and would like to offer you a special promotion from Air America Radio and XM Radio, which we intend to send out next week. Thank you very much for expressing your concerns to us, for your patience during this time of transition, and most important of all, for your continued support for Air America Radio.
Kind regards, Air America Radio
At this time I have no plans to move over to XM radio, and if they cut up the AAR programming the way XM does now, XM WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS

10. Here is how they break AAR programming up now |
|
Weekday Schedule: 5AM-6AM ET Rachel Maddow Dr. Rachel Maddow 6AM-9AM ET Morning Sedition Marc Maron, Mark Riley, Wayne Gilman 9AM-Noon ET The Jerry Springer Show Jerry Springer Noon - 3PM ET The Al Franken Show Al Franken, Katherine Lanpher 3PM-5PM ET The Ed Schultz Show Ed Schultz 5PM-7PM ET The Randi Rhodes Show Randi Rhodes 7PM-10PM ET The Majority Report Janeane Garofalo, Sam Seder 10PM-1AM ET The Alan Colmes Show Alan Colmes 1AM-5AM ET Mike Malloy Mike Malloy
Randi Rhodes is delayed with Ed Schultz, Malloy is delayed with Alan Colmes
So what they are saying is that Rhodes and Malloy are NOT live on XM
I think it is really screwed up if they keep that

are the most outspoken, and they don't want to offend their freepers

their are some rumors, I do NOT think they are true, that maybe Malloy and Rhodes might move to Sirius when AAR goes exclusive to XM, but I don't believe it, though I wouldn't blame Malloy, since they are practically eliminating him on XM, unless they change there schedule when they go exclusive with AAR

32. What makes you think the line-up will stay the same once they |
|
have the exclusive?
My understanding is that they will carry the entire AAR line-up in its entirety after July 11. Or so they told me at AAR when I called.

I think it's a bad idea for AAR to broacast exclusively to XM. AAR needs as many viewers as possible, and going on a subscription only service won't help that, but rather hinder the effort. Why are they doing this, are they doing that shitty on regular radio or what?
Please tell me why confining the audience to subscription only is a good idea, who's going to watch it but people who already agree.

And they're not gonna quit. If I win the lottery, I'll start an AAR affiliate in my town.

XM radio was always pretty much AAR, I don't see how anything has changed.. I guess if you have SIrius, maybe it sucks...

17. right now XM delays Randi Rhodes and Malloy broadcasts |
|
they are NOT live
If they become exclusive I would hope AAR demand that they play AAR programming live and continuous. It is actually an insult to liberals to delay Malloy with Alan Colmes

|
I am a Sirius customer and am NOT happy about this, but understand their reasoning. They have a value that Sirius did NOT want to pay for, but XM did, it is as simple as that

liberals will be taking the spot that AAR had. So, maybe this may not be bad idea. Thom Hartmann will be on 3 hours instead 1 hours... It should be interesting who all will replace AAR.

26. I know, and it is pretty screwed up |
|
they only give Thom Harman one hour live in the morning, replace him with Lynn Sammuels, who is usually more interested in celebrity gossip, and trashing AAR along with Alex Bennett. They only give one hour to Stephanie Miller delayed, and put on and Alan Colmes live for three hours. The young turks are liberal, but at least 30% of their show is sex talk, and the rest is politics. They have Ed Schultz, who is only fair.
In other words, Sirus Left, is not that great, and they already have two right wing stations, Sirius Patriot, and Sirius Right, and the ABC talk, and the rest of their talk is sligtly right at best, and completely right wing at worst
If they don't replace AAR with good liberal/progressive content then we lose
