I like the format. They have a little menu on the left that shows what they are going to talk about. Each entry gets a comment from Tucker, Rachel, and a guest. They don't yell over each other, and even Tucker waits for Rachel to finish her point. She is assertive, bright, speaks fast, and makes good points. Finally a true liberal on TV. She is not afraid to say "I disgree with you both". I only wish that she would get more say in the content planning. I hope that as time goes by, she will be able to get some items from her AAR news show on TV.
It was a gutsy move on the part of MSNBC to put her on prime time TV. Notice how they advertized the show - it was all Tucker Tucker bowtie crap. they did not reveal that an intelligent liberal lesbian female will co-host and essentially steal the show. I am sure the wingnuts would have made a fuss about her had they known. She hit the ground running, and I hope that she will be unstoppable. The ratings should reflect that. This show is what Hannity and Colmes was purported to be.
With Rachel on the panel I can actually stand even Tucker. I will watch again.

I will also watch again. Rachel Maddow is fun to watch. She makes the others seem not so bad.

4. The 'no yelling' thing seems to be the model for new MSNBC shows |

Reagan and Crowley do pretty much the same thing. Crowley, however, seems to step over the line a lot, however. Must be genetically engineered into the 'blonde, rightwing, big haired, made-for-teevee political bimbos' pioneered by Faux.

I second the notion that it is what Hannity and Colmes should be. I just like the fact that both sides are allowed to get their point across without shouting over each other.
Rachel is awesome on the show... and, I will admit, that I do have a tiny, itty bitty guilty pleasure for Tucker Carlson.. *hides*. At least he can be sensible unlike RushHannitySavage.

6. Tucker was miscast before. |
|
His role on Crossfire was "from the right" and I know that he had to argue positions that he disagreed with. For instance, he was against invading Iraq.
Also Tucker has, or tries to have, a sense of humor. Also a plus.
I doubt that Hannity could ever learn to tie a bowtie.
I don't agree with Tucker on most issues, but I remember being OK with the "Spin Room" show he co-hosted with Bill Press. That was a fun show. Having fun is the most important thing.
