The fact that the Associated Press didn't put anything out for two weeks about this is a real testiment to the gun-shy-spin-filter that Rove have blanketed the media with.

As the evidence mounts it will go down in the history books and eventually paint the situation with a true light.

Rove CANNOT control the future, all he can do is whitewash the present and manipulate the perception of the past.

10. Rove can only control so much

He's the type of criminal that everything will spin out of control and he won't be able to manipulate the media. He'll be under arrest in good time.

Criminals who are this arrogant have everything come back to them and blow up in their face. It's already happening...this show will just get better. Get the appetizers and drinks..the show is just beginning. :)

12. Rove is just a stupid nasty man

Not a super villian. Really. In the end, they cry like babies.

Britain has a real free press. They are watching this and right behind us. We aren't alone anymore. Someone broke this to get rid of Blair-but it's our coup de grace hopefully. As Ray McGovern said, he never dreamed it would be a real secret meeting minutes from Britain.

It's the real deal.

14. The bigger worry

Thanks for giving me the opening to express a little worry also....

The real worry now is not a set up with forged documents. The documents appear to be real. And I'm very optimistic now that we DO appear to be talking about DSM and all the supporting evidence. There is Conyers. There is Gold Star Families for Peace and other victims calling for investigation and impeachment. There are insider witness. There are boatloads of articles and books talking about the same thing. It's on the news in increasingly significant ways. This thing is just getting started in America. And we aren't talking about a beloved adminsitration getting in some hot water on one issue here. This is a group that has screwed up, burned bridges, and lied for 5 years. Dozens of enemies and problems could start to crop up the more it looks like these guys are going down...

However...

Of concern is potential distraction from the issue. This group, using its control of media, is fully capable of turning attention to any number of other issues that might come up. Abu Ghraib photos. A N Korea crisis. A terror alert. A high level resignation to diffuse anger. An ugly soap opera fight over legislation like social security. Going hard after Kofi Annan for something Americans were complicit it more than anyone else. ....who knows? Could be anything.

Also of concern is something these guys do very well, going back to Texas days: smearing anyone and everyone involved in the message. Muddying the waters, confusing the issue, getting everyone angry so that the public forgets who they should be angry at and forgets what the real issue is.

The group of people in power (neocon officials, corporatists, and fundy leaders) have spent a lot of money and energy OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS to get where they are now. They will not go down without a fight. Trillions of dollars and global empire are at stake here and they will start very soon to counter this growing problem.

As Pitt suggests, we are at an important crossroads moment. An open, real discussion of the issues could lead, ultimately, to repair of a lot of damage these criminals have caused. However...if we can't have that discussion...if the public isn't allowed to have all the information it needs and the room to openly discuss it, then that failure in democracy will tell us that we might be past the point of no return...the powers that be will remain in control for a long, long time.
