Addicted to Porn Helpline? Stupid Effing CBS 48 Hrs Mystery
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 12:40 PM by stopbush
I'm stuck in a hotel room last night with limited TV channels, so I end up watching this stupid effing CBS show on some guy (Gulf War vet) in Colorado who maybe killed his wife & kid.

The show starts out with the typical "devout Xtian family" crapola. The perfect Hallmark family. Then, oops: the wife & kid are missing! The wife's blood is all over the pillow, but where's the kid? The police suspect the husband did it. Shades of Scott Peterson. Eventually, they find the wife's body in a landfill.

The show spent half its time interviewing the husband, the other half the police & the local minister. What could have possibly made it all go bad? Drumroll, please...

THE HUSBAND WAS ADDICTED TO INTERNET PORN!! He admits it and says wifey JOINED HIM in viewing the porn as "an educational thing" to improve their sagging sex life.

So during the show, CBS puts up a graphic: "If you know someone addicted to internet porn, call blah blah blah." Huh? Why not run this graphic:

"If you know anyone who is suffering from severe religious dementia, please call blah blah blah."

Honestly. This tripe is unbelievable! An entire hour on this crap (I know. I didn't watch it straight through but kept coming back to it. What was I going to watch? Basketbore?). Who effing cares? And who says the porn sites were the problem? It was obvious to me that this couple's false hope in the non-existent sky god was the BIG problem in their relationship. How long can one live such a lie?

Stupid TV.

1. The whole porn leads to murder came from the fact that when
the FBI sat down and started to create a data bank on serial killers and their psychological profiles the one thing in common and continues to to be common in almost all of them is their love of porn

3. Sure.
Oddly enough, the same pattern fits counterfeiters, shop lifters, arsonists, and perfectly innocent people.

7. I'm sure it's true.
I'll bet serial killers like to masturbate and get six to eight hours of sleep every night too.

5. So why not say all serial killers like water, too?
Edited on Wed Jun-15-05 12:47 PM by BiggJawn
Those FBI numbers are meaningless unless they have figures on the part of the population that does NOT murder...

8. I am not saying its true the FBI is the one that found that element in
common with if I recall ALL of them and then the fundies and even womens rights advocates took it and ran with it.

18. I didn't say you were.
I was just pointing out that without correlation to the population as a whole, the FBI "study" is horse-pucky.

Say that the FBI says that 79% of all Pedophiles masturbate. Well! Sounds like we have a benchmark to determine who we should run out of our neighbourhoods with torches and pitchforks, right?

"Death to the WANKERS!"

But suppose that another study shows that 86% of the population as a WHOLE plays with themselves. What then?

I would bet that the FBI could also state that 100% of them like Oxygen, too.

9. It's an easy excuse.
Ted Bundy gave an interview and blamed his actions on porn. I'm not defending or promoting pornography, but it's a lame excuse.

13. Ted Bundy was also a republican.
What is the corrolation between political affiliation and mass murder?

28. Well, if you can't trust Ted Bundy, then who CAN you trust?
If his "blame-the-porn" story was true, you would think he would have POSESSED some.

You know what his car was FILLED with when he was caught?
NOT porn.
He had dozens of cheaply-printed flyers and brochures for various
"Cheerleader Summer Camps"...but no actual PORN.

Ted was a SERIOUSLY twisted POS; if he were around today he would be a MAJOR internet troll.(when he wasn't busy killing people)

His "porn made me do it" statements in his pre-death interview
were nothing but his idea of "flame-bait from beyond the grave".

14. If the FBI did a data bank on happily married
monogamous men who were great husbands and fathers, they'd find the one thing they all had in common is their love of porn.

Honestly, the men who DON'T love that stuff are the oddballs.

19. Which just proves that in some ways, serial killers are just like
folk.

Unless they are sustaining a $10,000,000,000/year industry by themselves.

22. Which obviously proves that masturbation
DOES cause blindness just like my mom was told by her mom... because statistically the one common link between blind people is that they like to masturbate.

2. But Religion is the HEALTHY Addiction!
And it IS an addiction. Oh, the number of people I've met who "got saved" from booze, drugs, shopping, sex, porn, etc. ALL by the "BLOOD of JEEEEEBUS!"

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus...Every second word out of their yap was "PRAISE JEEEEBUS!" or "Bless his WUNNERFUL name!" "Oh, THANKEW LAWD!"

Burned out. Fried their brains with drugs, and replaced the drugs with Jeebus...

Did meet a young woman who claimed she got saved from Nymphomania...I was hoping for a "Backslide"...

6. I stopped watching 48 Hours Mystery a long time ago.
All of the stories seem to be about a picture-perfect marriage that ends in murder, with the husband ending up being accused but denying it. To hear them tell it, every happily married man you see is actually a latent murderer just waiting to snap.

17. the porn "addiction" is probably a symptom
of the problem not the cause. in some serial killer cases the killer used porn at first to try to satisfy themselves but after a while it wasn't enough.

23. A prayer for those afflicted by "Demon porno" --------
I'm sure this snappy little poem will be of help to those afflicted by porno, it was on one of those cure-your-addiction-through-the-Bible pages:

If Demon Porno has you in his grasp,
This prayer should help release you from his hold.
Or maybe you know someone else, instead,
Who suffer's from this demon in his life.
If so, I pray you give this prayer to him,
And let me also pray for his release.

It started almost as a little joke,
A small adventure you thought you would try.
A burst of new excitement filled your mind,
But gradually you started to get snared:
A new addiction entered in your life,
And you required a stronger fix each day.
So pretty soon, the normal was too tame,
As you became accustomed to extremes.
And finally, your partner in real life
No longer raised your interest as before,
And you preferred to spend your time alone.
O evil Demon Porno, hear my voice!
I now command, in Jesus' holy name
That you come out and leave this man alone!
No longer may you dwell within his house,
No longer may you tamper with his life.
In Jesus' holy name I cast you out!
O Lord I pray that You will fill the void
That was created when the demon left.
I pray that You will enter in this man,
And grow and prosper well within his heart.
I pray that You return his appetite
For normal, lawful sex, as God provides,
A comfort to his wife and to himself.
I pray that in the normal, lawful way,
He now can fill his needs and live in peace.
In Jesus' name I pray for him, Amen.

25. The saddest thing about this is that it's an HOUR a week
that could be devoted to covering stuff that affects us ALL.

Things like:

social security round tables with REAL experts
foreign policy with real experts
the state of the crumbling infrastructure of the US (roads/bridges/schools etc)
healthcare crisis in the US
pension safety
lower pay for more work... issues

Instead, we have a cobbling together of old news clips, into a sensationalistic story every week that always seems to involve a defiled/abused/defrauded woman..and the stories usually involve some kind of sexual depravity ..

WTG CBS...and they wonder why their viewerrs are ditching them for cable:eyes:

27. Same sort of thing happened during the "Satanic Abuse" scare...
A TV "docu"drama had parents breaking down a wall and finding a ceremony in progress, whereas in real life every "satanic" claim turned up no physical evidence anywhere on property or on the kids, just a lot of fundie-paranoia-driven hot air.
